Relief Pitcher Strategy

Post by Money » Thu Jun 10, 2010 5:40 am

As I look through my leagues and others I keep seeing these teams that are employing 4 -7 relief pitchers each week. I've heard the strategy mentioned in certain threads but didn't really understand it.

As I see it you can win ERA WHIP and SAVES while forgoing Wins and Strikeouts. I would imagine at the draft this would put you in a nice position to draft your offense seeing as you can get relievers later. Seems very risky to me in that you'll have to do awfully well offensively to win. This strategy must have a degree of success to it as it's out there many times, even in the super league I entered. I believe that team has very little chance at this point.

Can you guys shed some light on this strategy. I must be missing something.

I am not a vet of the NFBC or a pro, but I have heard from numerous players that...

You can win your league this way, but in no way possible will you win the $1,000.000.

If that's the case, what is the point of joining the Main? Why not just join a regular league?

Sometimes during the draft you get caught with your pants down and HAVE go all RP or all SP (good strategy too).

I bet Most try to win their league first and hope for the best with the overall. (unless your Gekko of course)

It is a great strategy if you want to finish 3rd in your league.

Also, keep in mind that 2 out of 15 in the $10,000 Diamond League are using this strategy.
