NFBC Must Listen!

Don't forget to tune into Fantasy Phenoms Baseball out Friday night at 6:00pm

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/fantasy-phenoms

Call in number is 347-539-5260

I don't want to seem like I am piling on but the Mike Stanton blunder impacted my club and perhaps many other clubs out there. He was disguised under the draft results as Carlos Marmol. I am sure I like many others searched him and draft results and came up empty and eagerly awaited his addition to the free agent pool. This hurt my club and I am sure others as money was saved to bid on this guy.

The number of issues has put a bit of a damper on my fantasy season. I am sure in the future all these bugs will be worked out. However what will be done to show NFBC cares about the people who had to deal with these problems?

What is the solution?

What should NFBC do to rectify the situation?

It was a stupid bug in the system but they aren't blaming their season on it. I am in the same league (AC2) and can vouch for Carlos Marmol being listed in Mike Stanton's spot in the draft results. Yeah, it sounds made up but its true.

He was never listed as drafted in the draft results. When teams like myself searched the draft results for his name and the free agents and he didn't appear. It is logical to assume he was not drafted and we would all wait for the FA bidding to begin.

My team and perhaps many others saved FA dollars for this week only to find out Stanton was indeed drafted and now not available. He was listed under Carlos Marmol. To me this is unacceptable. I missed out on 1 player in particular making sure I didn't stretch my budget so I would have a shot at this guy.

The first week was a new proccess and we got thru it but it made the first week was unenjoyable. Grady Sizemore was a judgement call, some agreed with the decision and most did not. However not correcting the Marmol entry over 2 months into the season is unacceptable and has now directly impacted my team with the way I spent my FA dollars.

I am sure I am not the only one in this boat.

Craig's reply is on the money. We are not blaming our poor season on it, but we did indentify Stanton as someone to safe our money for to help out putrid HR and RBI numbers.

I am sure I am not the only one in this boat. Josh-

I'm in your league as well and although the draft results were incorrect online, he was listed on the roster of the team that drafted him all year. The best advice I can give is to fill out the draft tracker sheet that is provided to each team. I fill out the entire draft manually and reference that all year, matching up the rosters online with what I have. I know it may be a pain and not for everybody, but it is good insurance.
Good points and he was on the right team's roster all year.

Josh, let me give you the facts here and then you can spin it the way you want on the air. I know you want to blame Fanball again, but we get Player IDs from one source and those player IDs are also given to FJ Fantasy Sports for the stickers. Heck, I'm sure ESPN gets them from the same source, too. Stanton had the same player ID as Marmol, so even though we correctly typed in the right player ID for Stanton in the few leagues he was drafted in, it showed up as Marmol on the draft roster. We had to manually go into each roster that he was drafted and change that. So correct, that wouldn't have been changed on the online draft results if you just looked there and didn't keep a draft grid yourself.

If available in any league, he certainly would have been added on Monday and ready to be bid on this week. But you are correct, it's a unique story of how he doesn't show up in the draft grid.
is it THAT hard to write it down at the draft? sorry, I'm not that OLD (40 soon :( ), but I've always put pen to paper at LIVE drafts (hell you could've taken a pic of the main board!)

I'd stick to talking bout FA (and not dogging GA) on the show ;)

Thanks to those who listen. If you are a listener you would know that we promote the NFBC very hard because we are fans of the competition. We present the situation, how we feel(usually passionately both positive and negative), and the listeners can decide.

We talk about all the great things in the NFBC from week to week for years. It is only fair to talk about the things that are a little off. The 1st FA period, the Grady, Beltran decisions and diguised Stanton are all worthy topic conversations. There is no spin involved. These things actually happened. We discussed them just as we discuss how great customer service is, how well run the drafts are, etc.

It would be awesome if GA would like to call in next week. Remember we are huge fans of NFBC, it would be a great interview. It wouldn't be a grill session.

lmao at yet another case where player names and IDs have caused a problem. Nice work

And to think that if a couple of people had just read (and answered) e-mails and/or posts on the subject over the past couple of years ...

I don't buy it at all. You mean to tell me that fantasy "experts" have gone until mid June without looking at the rosters in their league?

I don't buy it at all. You mean to tell me that a $1300 fantasy league has gone until mid June without fixing the data in their game?
