USA Today Sports Weekly

Remember when USA Today's Baseball Weekly was the Bible of fantasy baseball preparation? I haven't purchased this publication in years, but while getting coffee at 7-11 yesterday, I picked up a copy and was SHOCKED at what it has become. As Clara Peller used to say, "Where's the beef???" For whatever reason, the special fantasy section was delayed until next week -- absolutely inexcusable. There are hardly any articles worth reading, and the damn thing is wafer thin.

If video killed the radio star, the internet killed this once great newspaper.

KOQ, Got to agree with you there. I cancelled my subscription about a year ago. It is a sad thing but I think they started going down hill when they got away from total baseball and started including football.

I thought that was the worse fantasy publication I have seen - maybe ever. Carl Crawford was number 50, I dream that the other players in my league follow their rankings.

I personally refer to them as Baseball Weakly

Is that kind of like that old joke about sex...

As a young man - tri-weekly

As a middle aged man - try weekly

As an old man - try weakly

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I agree with you guys. I grabbed a copy on the way home yesterday looking for the LABR results and was not pleased to see they will issue the fantasy baseball edition next week. From what I read last night and at lunch this afternoon there was "no beef". Not worth 50 cents let along a buck fifty.

Drats! Now I have to go into the auction blind and ill prepared again!

OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

Ever since they decided to add football it has gone down hill big time, thier coverage of minor leagues is almost non-existant, i still buy it because it is cheap and there is still some info i can use , but it has suffered greatly since the merge with football.

I have to agree. Football is what killed Baseball Weekly.

Probably the worst $5.00 I ever spent was a few weeks ago on their Fantasy "Guide". Aside from ranking Crawford #50, some real good insight..Like under 2nd basemen, a picture of Robby Alomar and it says..."slipping"....Ya Think?!?!?!?!

The starting pitching rankings were some of my favorites..#133 Scott Kazmir..i have up around 90 myself ;)
