Shame on MLB for hiring this turd. Quote of the game from Bob "The Reds could always call on Aroldis Chapman who is tearing it up in the minors". I am now watching the game on mute.

I only watch when Mitch Williams is not on screen. I can't take it anymore...

It is difficult to watch MLB...period
It really is.
I swear these guys practice laughing. They are trying so hard to show us what a good time they are having that they lose us.
Why they can't give perspective or hard numbers without their self-appreciated sense of humor is beyond me.
Producers really need to change the balance of their studio shows. Although there is hilarity on the set, it isn't shared by us at home.
When Fox premiered their NFL pre-game show with James Brown, Howie Long, and Terry Bradshaw, it became the standard for talking head shows.
MLB has a lot of Bradshaw's, they need to work on getting more Brown's and Long's.

What we have today is better then what we had 5 to 10 years ago. The best information in the 70's and 80's came from Peter Gammons with Baseball Digest. In the late 80's and earlie 90's Peter Gammons who was considered like "God" with information, delivered his Diamond Notes about once a week on ESPN. Today you can find information all day long.
Mitch Williams is very good breaking down pitching mechanics.
Costas is very good. Look at the hard hitting interview he had with Commissioner.
These boards could be used to talk more along the lines about what people like. I think MLB Network is great. If you don't like them turn over to John Kruk.

i dont mind the dorky enthusiasm from reynolds, casey, larkin, mitch, and plesac. its that kiss ass amsinger host guy that drives me nuts. he is brutal.
as far as the worst "sports personalities" id like to nominate two espn bozos. Woody Paige is a joke. He knows less about sports than monkeys at the zoo. His buddy Skip Bayless is even worse (is that possible?). i feel horrible for any city that has these morons as their "sports guys."

Generally I like Bob Costas. He knows the game as a sport and he knows the games history. I guess my only problem with him is that he wants you to know he knows. He doesn’t seem to be able to gently weave a story or present related history of an event into the broadcast. He tends to convey the message by hitting you over the head so that you have no choice but to know what he knows.

Yes Costas knows baseball and it's history. That's why he is good.
I hate to point out a mistake of a broadcaster, but Hawk Harrelson recommended in his broadcast this weekend that the White Sox should trade for Grady Sizemore for the stretch run. That should be a real concern.
Costas knowledge is a blessing.
