Is he available tomorrow? He is in the Free Agent pool but you're unable to bid on him even though he isn't on a team.
Possibly I'm missing something here. Please let me know. Thanks.

C'mon Joe, I thought you were up on the rules?
12. Free Agents: Any player who is not on a team roster within your league and is (or was at some point during the current season) on a major league roster or once was on an NFBC team in your league is considered a free agent for that league. Even players on the MLB disabled list are eligible to be picked up during the FAAB bidding process. The player pool is deemed closed of new free agents each Sunday at 7 AM ET before the FAAB bidding deadline. Participants should note that MLB unsigned veteran free agents at the time of Draft Day are eligible to be picked up or bid on in the NFBC Classic.
In most cases, a pitcher being recalled from the MINOR (sorry) leagues is not recalled/added to the major league roster until the day he pitches. Therefore, unless the Braves do something unusual, the player you mention will not be made available until next week.
Don't know what league you are considering this guy, but a private email to Greg or Tom will help avoid tipping your hand to your fellow leaguemates.

According to the Braves website on MLB, Minor was indeed called up YESTERDAY and should be available in FAAB pools. Minor was promoted and Kawakami was demoted. Here is the link:

Minor is also listed on the Braves active roster:

WHY ISN'T HE IN THE FAAB POOL??????

Since Fanball manually pulled Minor from the FAAB pool, does that mean Fanball has to manually add him back? If so, was that done yesterday?

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

If he's not available it's a mistake and one that should be corrected now. The MLB website indicates he was called up yesterday.

From the mlb.com - 08/07/10 Atlanta Braves optioned RHP Kenshin Kawakami to Gwinnett Braves.
Atlanta Braves called up LHP Mike Minor from Gwinnett Braves.
So...why isn't he in the pool? Last Saturday Wallace was called up and he was available. This Saturday Minor gets called up and he is not available? Is it because one is a hitter and one is a pitcher? Is it because Wallace played on Saturday? I am not understanding all the problems with the FAAB player pool. As aggravating as some of the technological issues have been (player search, live scoring, sorting, etc.) there has been nothing as aggravating as this whole FAAB player pool issue in my opinion. I think the easiest thing to do would be to make the player pool exactly the same for all leagues regardless of who was drafted on draft day. Tie everything to the mlb 40 man roster? It is just very frustrating to have these types of inconsistencies.

Everyone, Minor will not be added to the FA pool today. He wasn't included with the players sent to us by STATS by today's deadline so he will not be manually added. All players sent to us by STATS by today's deadline are available for free-agent bidding. Good luck to everyone in their free-agent moves this week.

Minor was already sent to Fanball earier this week by STATS. From a post Greg made, Fanball manually removed Minor from the free agent pool.
HOWEVER, Fanball needs to manually add him back to the free agent pool. This doesn't appear to be a STATS issue, but a Fanball one.
Let's get it right and get him added to the FAAB pool TODAY. Fanball still has time to do the right thing here.

So how did Minor get in the player pool on Friday then? Are we now going to use the fact that Stats didn't add him in last night's feed as the reason a manual intervention won't occur? Seems a manual fix had to take place to remove him.
This should be a good answer.

To follow up, this isn't an error by us. The team has to officially promote the player with the league and STATS gets the player feed directly from Major League Baseball. We in turn get this directly from stats. If he's not officially on the team we can't add him. We don't want you guys
sitting around waiting for these callups on sunday, thus the early deadline for callups.
He will be available next week. We are just following the rules in place and STATS didn't have him on their roster by our Sunday morning deadline. Fanball didn't make this call.

i'm sorry, this is very hard to believe. personally, i don't believe it (and neither do some of my NFBC friends that i spoke with in the past hour).
two questions for you:
Question 1: if minor was never added to the Braves, then how was he included in the STATS feed to Fanball earlier this week??
Question 2: Please post (or email me) a contact person (and phone number) at STATS that we can verify the Minor situation with.
thanks.

Mark, the ruling stands. I'm sorry that you're unhappy with it but we're abiding by our rules. As far as a contact person at STATS, I don't have one because I rarely speak to anyone there directly anymore since they do not run the back end for our contests. Sorry I can't be of help in that regard.

So in summary it is allowable for some players to be in the pool early though they shouldn't be, and others who should be eligible not added?
Mike Minor
another Fanball mistake. simply amazing.
i can do without any more enhancements this year. but i can't do without the rules being enforced. i don't think i'm alone in saying this year has the least amount of integrity EVER associated with the NFBC. not only do you have to beat your competitors...you have to beat the Fanball system.
are you guys TRYING to drive business away for next year? if so, you are doing a good job.

if i have to cold call STATS and ask them if their business is as bad as Fanball is making it out to be, i will.

We are not going to manually add a player if he wasn't included in the STATS list provided to us by Sunday morning's deadline. Greg and I are sorry if this decision upsets people but we are not going to make a decision that is contrary to what our rules state.

Open Action Items
1. If Minor was never added to the Braves, how was he included in the STATS feed to Fanball earlier this week??
2. Can Greg post (or email) a contact person (and phone number) at STATS so that NFBC participants can verify if STATS didn't do their job (again), as Fanball is stating in regards to the Minor call-up?
Thanks.

He's available in every league I play in but this one.
So many problems caused by this stupid rule.
If someone wants to have 7 ML's on their team, I don't care. The bench is too thin with no IR and whatever you try to stack your bench with (ML/SP/CL in waiting, backups for all) in this game leaves you short somewhere else. It would ADD to the strategy.

So he was called up in time and was in the player pool with STATS until he was manually taken out, but somehow he is not available?
Yet I was able to get and keep James McDonald and found out later he never should have been eligible, but all his stats sure counted.
Oh well. Sigh, what a frustrating year for a game I really love.

Is it possible that STATS did not include MINOR in its feed because MINOR was in a feed earlier in the week?
