Star players dropped

Post by rockitsauce » Tue Sep 14, 2010 8:35 am

I can't believe this guy is doing this, but I hope that Greg & Tom will NOT allow it to go through.

Here is the message he put on our League MB -

"haha, had no chance so I dropped all my good players. This will be intersting to find out who they go too . All the guys doing very well are also almost broke".

Those are the words of William Shaffer (Tennessee Roosters). He dropped Longoria, Holliday, Pence, and Brian Roberts.

Please tell me this is not happening as I am one of those "guys doing well". I actually have the most $ left out of the top 3, but don't want any part of this bullshite.

I'd ban this guy from future events.

A Yahoo stunt.

The league is already changed because of the stats these players would have provided for this guy's team, thus changing league categories. Deplorable.

The cut players should be shelved or even restored back to the original roster in hopes that he would play it out fairly.

Agreed with him being barred from future events.

Players definitely need to be put back on his team, stats backdated, and block his ass from future moves, and future events.

I almost never post but I agree that this is ridiculous. I would also hope that a ban and retro happens. Not only does this effect the league but also the overall.

Don't worry about it affecting the overall, it's just a satellite. I had actually titled this thread satellite problems, but when I didn't see any response from Tom/Greg I changed it to Star players dropped.

I thought that might raise eyebrows, but still nothing from the guys who run the show.

I remember the brouhaha over Grady Sizemore earlier this yr and know that they wouldn't allow this to happen in the Main. I'm hoping that is the case in satellites as well.

I did 2 sat's this yr...in this one I am in 1st. In my 2nd, I have a respectable 95 pts, but thanks to 2 guys at the top pulling some Quahogs/Gekko crap (128 & 126 pts) my 95 is only good for 6th place.

It would never occur to me to do (in that lge) what Mr. Shaffer has done in the other.

Whatever happened to the golden rule?

Greg-

I know this is not the Main, but a response is needed. I looked at the actual add/drops. This guy dropped Matt Holliday and picked up Ben Sheets...this cannot stand in any league, now's the time for integrity.

He also dropped Longoria for Ramon Hernandez, Brian Roberts for Kawakami, and Hunter Pence for Zach Duke.

I'm guessing this a$$wipe is probably a teenager because no grown man would do something like this...except in a Yahoo league. Restore his team and get him out of the NFBC.

We were alerted to this league on Sunday night and have taken steps to put these players back on his reserve roster. He can pick up the players he'd like but we have asked him to cut four other players. Or we'll do that today. Even with satellite leagues, we will intercede when cuts like this are made.

I'm glad to see you intercede in this situation like this, however (as you know) these leagues are often won by 0.5 pt (I've seen it TWICE), ask Eli Grimmett.

Putting these players on his reserve roster is a step in the right direction, but who in the hell would NOT have Longoria/Pence/Roberts/Holliday in their ACTIVE lineup now??

I hate to sound like a well-known crybaby here and I know that there's probably nothing you can do about it, but if I lose b/c of this idiot I think I'm done w/ NFBC.

[/QB][/QUOTE]I can't make decisions that are based on keeping owners in the NFBC in future years. That's totally your call and there will be people who try to be jerks in most every league you play in. That being said, we do address all of these late-season drops as best we can without being the manager of each team. In this case, we felt all four could be on his roster instead of four dead reserves and put them back on his team and told him why. He had to start Longoria because he didn't have another third baseman, but the three other players are on his reserve roster for this week. We'll see what he does next week, but he has a legal roster for this week and those stars aren't in the FAAB pool. I think we did the right thing.

Now I'm not sure why some folks would finish the season this way, but it's always something in the NFBC. We're just staying on top of things and trying to not let these moves affect the final standings if we can help it.

Rockitsauce - I know this is no consolation, but if the guy has NO honor to play the game the right way, then post his name on the Message Board so we ALL know who it is and not to ever play in a league with him.

I stated his name w/ the 1st post of this thread, William Shaffer, team name - Tennessee Roosters.

Greg,

I apologize for saying I'd leave NFBC...should've said I'd be done w/ ALL of these types of internet contests that can be manipulated in this manner. I know there's nothing you can do to prevent this guy from sitting his best players. My discontent has nothing to do w/ you or Tom. I think you both do an outstanding job.

I always have my home league - great group of friends & family that have been together for a decade. However I know I'd miss the action here...in my opinion the best of the best compete in NFBC.

Perhaps I just need a drink? Where's Lance? ;)
