Who Will Win The NFBC Auction League Title?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Sep 23, 2010 3:36 am

We've got ourselves one heckuva battle going for the debut NFBC Auction Championship. I really like the way the Auction Championship has turned out this year and we will definitely be offering another event like this next year. Great job to all 135 owners competing in this contest.

Right now the tag team of Richard Gordon and Charles Levitz from Las Vegas are leading the overall contest. Richard and Charles have been partners for every NFBC Auction League they've entered together since 2004 and this is easily their best team yet. But hot on their heels is Jeff Dobies from the New York Auction League as he trails by just 10.5 points. It should be a great fight to the finish here.

Here's a look at the Top 10 teams, where we even have a virtual tie for 6th place right now:

1. GORDON LEVITZ RG AUCTION Richard Gordon Las Vegas March 26 9 am Auction League 585.5 545.5 1,131.0

2. ALL-IN Jeffrey Dobies New York March 26 10 am Auction League 578.5 541.0 1,119.5

3. Michael C. Michael Cortese New York March 28 1 pm Auction League 529.0 499.0 1,028.0

4. Roy's Outlaws Roy Ericson III New York 1300 Auction League 530.5 492.5 1,023.0

5. poppers Kevin Bass Las Vegas March 19 4 pm Auction League 590.5 413.5 1,004.0

6. King of Queens Glenn Schroter Las Vegas March 26 4 pm Auction League 2 483.0 497.0 980.0

6. (+1) GoHomeAndGetYourShineBox Emilio Cutaneo Atlantic City March 19 4 pm Auction League 592.0 388.0 980.0

8. Darth Vander auction David Van Der Stuyf Chicago March 26 4 pm Auction League 561.0 410.5 971.5

9. (+2) Didley Squat Dallas Jones Las Vegas March 26 9 am Auction League 631.0 316.0 947.0

10. (-1) Lord of the Idiots Dan Mitlof New York March 26 10 am Auction League 416.0 513.0 929.0

Great stuff and good luck to all during the last 11 days of the season.

Great job Jeff! Keep it up and bring this baby home (a better job of it than I did getting us home from Citifield... ).

Good luck the rest of the year Bud, I'm rooting for you.

WOW!!! The Auction Championship title was decided by a HALF A POINT!! AMAZING.

Congrats to Jeff Dobies as he won the debut NFBC Auction Championship, edging the team of Richard Gordon and Charles Levitz 1,140.5 points to 1,140.0 points. That's just amazing. The two teams had entered play tied for the overall lead heading into the final day of the season and Jeff pulled it out by a half a point.

Richard and Charles had another team finish 16th overall in the Auction Championship and I believe they won two league titles. Amazing run guys. Great job.

Thanks to everyone for a fantastic debut Auction Championship season. We will be returning with another Auction Championship in 2011 with another $15,000 grand prize. Look for more details soon.

CONGRATS AGAIN JEFF!! You are a deserving champ.

I hope Richie Gordon doesn't mind me telling this story, but it's just too amazing not to pass along.

The Auction Championship race as we all know came right down to the last day of the season. In fact, it came down to the last out of the season. Jeff Dobies edged Rich Gordon and Charles Levitz by one hit or one run. It could have finished in a tie for the overall championship or a reversal of first and second place.

Rich said his team came up one hit short. He could have gained one more point in Batting Average with another hit. Jeff also had a save in the last game of the year with Kuo. Posey also hit a HR in the 8th inning of the SF game for Jeff's team, which was the difference in a half a point.

But even more unbelievably, Richard and Charles had two teams in the Auction Championship and they won both league titles. But that second team bested their second overall team in Runs by one, costing them another point and the overall title. WOW. AMAZING.

"If any of these dont happen, I win. What can you do?" Richie said.

GREAT, GREAT season. Richard said he will be among the first to sign up for two more auctions next year...after Jeff signs up, that is. ;) Great competition guys and great fun.
