Can anyone who has won money at NFBC in the past give any insight into the general timetable for getting your check after the season is over?

Well, it's not quite that fast but we do try to turn this around quickly. Last year, checks for everyone who had a W-9s on file were sent out before Halloween and in the past we were maybe a week behind that schedule. There are a lot of W-9s to compile for accounting, but we do try to get your winnings to you quickly.
I'll have more details on how you claim your prizes on Monday. We are setting up an automated system online that Fanball uses for their other games and hopefully this will make the process even easier for all of you 2010 NFBC winners. You will claim the prize online and it will help expedite the process for us. Look for more details soon, but all looks good again.

I should have an update on this by tomorrow as we are currently getting all league winners into the system and will have an easier way than in the past for you prize winners to claim your prize. We are trying to automate everything so that we don't have to physically mail W-9s like we did in the past. This should help speed up the process on our end.
We have almost 600 winners this year and we know who all of you are!!
Congrats to all of you. We'll get this set up so that you can claim your winnings online very shortly.

Just an update on winnings: We are getting all of the winning owners into the accounting system this week and double-checking all names and winning totals. We have over $1.3 million in winnings, so we have to make sure we have everything right.
In the next week you'll also see a Claim Prizes link when you log in to fanball.com or nfbc.fanball.com. This will show up under MY ACCOUNT. There will be a PRIZES link across the top along with information on your W-9 status. We'll email all NFBC members with directions on how to do all of this as soon as the Prizes link is completed. We're still working out all of the details too, hopefully to make this as simple as possible for all winners.
Everything is being automated this year so that we will have a seamless pay period going forward. We used paper W-9s in the past and it caused a lot of delays and confusion. This year, you will be alerted when you Claim Prizes if you have a W-9 on file with us or not. If you've done this with other CDM or Fanball games in the past, you should be good to go. I'm going to find out if our NFBC W-9s also still are on file for those past winners. If it says you need to fill out the W-9, you'll be able to do that quickly online and that will remain with us for all contests going forward.
Then we'll need to get all winning checks cut and mailed out. If anyone has a change of address since the start of the 2010 NFBC season, send to Tom at . Thanks.

Quick followup: It looks like if you had won in the past in the NFBC or the NFFC and we have your physical W-9 on file you won't be asked to fill out a W-9 online. That's good news for hundreds of our past winners. So give us a week or so to get all of this done and then we should be ready for you to claim your prizes and get the process moving.

Thanks for the info. Estimated timeline for getting checks out? Assume I fill out my W-9 online the very first day I'm notified that I can claim prizes. I'm planning a trip to Vegas in December for tax purposes and would be sorely pissed if I didn't have my winnings by then.

Getting all of this done in a timely fashion would be a feather in the cap for Fanball, something I think would be of great benefit come next year
Guys, we've always paid in a quick fashion. Six years, two sports, over $6 million and last year with Fanball we had payouts before Halloween, quicker than we ever had with F+W. All of this takes some time to get it into the system, verify the names, amounts and W-9s, and then to now automate the process online so that we don't have to deal with paper tax forms. But we're on pace to be consistent with past years. Congrats to all of the winners and enjoy your winnings when you get them. But make sure you save a little money for your 2011 NFBC fix.

Okay, we created a My Account link on your NFBC page so that we don't have to send everyone to www.fanball.com. This is still being worked out, but I think you can see the link under HOME. Then use the pulldown to find My Account.
There you will update your contact information so that we are sending the check to the right location. We'll also have a link there where you'll be able to find out if we have your W-9 on file and if not there will be a link that allows you to fill out this tax form online. Submit it online and we'll be good to go.
I'll have more info soon on the Claim Prizes link that will be there, but that's where I think you'll see what we have in our system for your winnings and you'll be able to confirm it there so that we're both on the same page. If those figures are right, you'll claim your prize and that will start the process to getting paid. Again, we are adding these pieces to the My Account page, so give us a little time, but at least everything is on the NFBC page. CDM owners likely have done this in the past, but this is a new automated process for the NFBC and it will be very nice and very efficient once all of the pieces are in place.
Thanks all and congrats to all of our winners.

Glenn Okay, the first thing we need to do is make sure we have your address correct, your social security number and W-9 on file. Click on Prizes and it should let you know if all of that is done. If you don't have a W-9 on file it will prompt you to fill one out online. The goal is to have that right there for you to finish in a couple of minutes.
Your complete prize totals will appear under this Prizes link once they are all registered in accounting and I believe a Claim Prizes link will appear there. I'll know more on that soon and will certainly email everyone when that next link appears.
