Another week.
Computers can process thousands and thousands of statistics nightly, yet, not our checks.
I know I'll probably come off as a whiner, but it is annoying to no end that we are still in the 'processing' stage.
By no means, is this a 'prompt' return of winnings. Doughy - Why do you have to make me upset on a Monday!
Why wasn't the "Claim Prize" link ready for when the season ended? I guess it didn't dawn on Fanball (until after the season was over) that they would have to PAY us!
Not to fan flames anymore, but no check by Thanksgiving, no NFBC for GG in 2011. Think i'm bluffing, Ryan, try it and find out. It's a shame I even have to say Thanksgiving. That's almost a full 2 months after the season is over.
Mark, that's a real busy week for the USPS. What if the check's mailed but delayed in transit?
Glenn
I don't think it will be a USPS issue as I'm getting mail from California To North Carolina in 3 days on regular basis & sometimes as quick as 2 so I think they are doing a knockout job. Maybe a Fanball delay but I doubt a USPS delay.

I made a "minor" mistake telling my wife that I should have my check by the end of the month (October).... I should have known better.
Yes, why wasn't this link to claim our prize money set up at some point during the season?? (rhetorical question so please don't answer this).

Yes, why wasn't this link to claim our prize money set up at some point during the season?? (rhetorical question so please don't answer this). Guys, I stated what the timetable was going to be, so the update is that we're still on pace to meet that timetable. We will have everyone claim their prizes next week on the site and then begin sending out all winning checks for the NFBC, Diamond Challenge, Draft & Play and all Fanball games after that. I know everyone wants their checks mailed out this week and when we just did NFBC checks in the past we normally sent out checks this week or the first week of November. Correct, last year we outdid ourselves and got them out a week earlier, but this year we are doing thousands of checks at once.
The Claim Prizes link is built and ready to be added to the site next week. We have millions of dollars being verified and audited now for all of the Fanball games, not just NFBC. By next week we should be good to go as I stated.
I'll be in St. Louis this week to finalize things for 2011. We're working hard and ready to get you payments for 2010 and to get 2011 started. That's what I said previously and the update is that we're still on pace to reach those goals.

People are wondering when will checks be sent. right now it reads like a black hole. It could be next week. It could be after Christmas.
Please ask Ryan to respond to when payment will be issued. THIS SHOULD NOT BE THAT DIFFICULT A QUESTION FOR SOMEONE FROM FANBALL TO ANSWER.
The checks will go out each Friday. I'm not sure how many will get processed that first week but hopefully they will go out after you've claimed and verified your prize. I'm not sure why you keep posting the mad face and thinking the worst. Hopefully the process will work as planned. We want you to have this money, trust me. But this takes time, as it does for every company in the industry when this much money is being distributed.

I have had direct or indirect responsibility for AP departments for 15 years. What you are asking these people to do is not easy. It takes time. You also cannot just put anyone over there and put more bodies on the issue to solve it in the short term. It would also be silly to staff up the area to be able to handle your 2 peak seasons. The safeguards against someone not being paid or paid twice have to be pretty manual. I could get deeper but you would just be bored.

You forgot to mention auditors Chest.
But we're working through all that and on schedule with payments last I heard. I'll gladly give an update as we get this rolling the first week of November as promised. Again, we WANT to pay you so you reinvest in the NFBC!!
I'm excited to get 2011 going, but we can't do that before we wrap up 2010 with prize payments. Your prize payments.

Greg, please make sure all checks don't go out till December or better yet January! Gekko out would really help in the $1300 auction!!!

My private Sack/Luny league payment went out the day after the season ended. Not that I would expect payment that quickly but the 1st week in November is the timetable CDM always used in their games.

The checks should at least be in the mail by now.
Companies cut thousands of checks every two weeks in America. It should be no different here.
Computers are wonders, I don't know how they work, but I am betting they know the amount of money everyone made within a day after the season, if not hours. Including the other segments of Fanball competition.
I may sound a little Sportsbettingmanian, but I suspect it becomes a game of how many days the parent company can hang onto millions of dollars gaining interest before customer resentment gets to the breaking point.
It should be interesting to see how this is handled, and more important, WHEN it is handled. Just an FYI....none of the information I provided in this thread were guesses, assumptions, or what I assumed is the way things should be.
I tracked down my 2009 tax return, found & reviewed the tax form Fanball sent me last year, and noted that it was a 1099-MISC with the income entered in Box 3. I then went to the IRS.gov website and read their own instructions regarding this form.
There they note that "the payment of winnings is considered made when actually paid". They also offer both a Schedule C and Schedule C-EZ form which is specifically provided to list deductible expenses so that net income is what is taxed, not gross.
This was then all verified with my personal tax accountant as well as a business colleague whose position involves dealing with 1099's on a regular basis.
All it took to find this information was a short trip downstairs to my tax files, a couple clicks of a mouse, and a phone call or two. No stays at the Holiday Inn required.
The only tax question that remains unanswered is whether funds never paid out but instead utilized for future entries will need to be noted on the 1099. A minor point since those entries are deductible anyway. However, a question that needs to be answered nonetheless.
Regarding when payments will be forthcoming, here is where I'll guess. Fanball sent out football checks for NFFC winners on January 8th last year, pretty much within a month of season's end.
However with the creation of player accounts this year, it goes to reason there would be some time needed to set up these accounts. (Whether Fanball should have set up these accounts prior to season's end is another question altogether).
Still, I'll assume that if the Claim Prize tabs are set up by the first week of November as promised and Fanball uses the time between now and then to verify all prizes, obtain or verify prior receipt of all W-9 forms, and prepare the awarding of all prizes, checks should/could be issued well within a week or two of that time. This would/should just beat the deadline of Thanksgiving set by Mark, meaning that Fanball would live to see another NFBC baseball season.
In all seriousness, one of the positives last year was the quick receipt of payments. Let's not let that aspect of this contest slip.

I hope you are right about my Fanball account given my only connection to Fanball is the NFBC, I will be interested if they have all my mailing information. I know the "old" NFBC had my W-9 info.

I believe that Greg said the " Claim Prizes link will be available the week of Nov. 1st" and not that date specifically [see the very first post of this thread]. This could mean as late as November 6. "Nine" might be the better count-down number.
