Louis for a visit to Fanball. LOL!

I checked this morning and still nothing. :(
Mark I talked to Ryan this morning he was leaving his massage on the way to his polo match. He would not answer me directly on when the prize link would be up. He did however sound excited that the mock draft room will be open this afternoon.

I know Mark wants to force his will on Nov. 1st as the exact date despite what we said, but the time table for past Fanball games has been the first week of November and this year that includes the NFBC. I was in St. Louis last week and we are on pace to get everything done this week.

We'll send an email out as soon as we're good to go. There are thousands of other winners among the Fanball games being set up and I know those were still being set up on Thursday when I was there. It sounds like such an easy process, but it takes time when you have $5+ million in prize money and auditors verifying all of the prizes/winners. Sorry, but that's the case here.

We're working hard on all of this. Trust me, I saw it with my own two eyes. And this week we should start getting your prizes out to you as we had planned. Congrats to all of the winners.

Greg: Not to muddy the water but I received an e-mail from a Fanball employee stating that it would be November 1st:

I'm writing because you have qualified to win either a 2011 NFBC free entry or the cash equivalent. Beginning on Nov. 1 you will be able to claim your prize winnings so I need to know before then if you want to take the free entry or the cash. Please reply before Monday to let me know what you would like to do and we'll get you all set up. Thanks much. If that is not the case, then I apologize, but it was stated in the note of November 1st, and not the week of.

Yes, with the free entries we need to know if you are choosing the cash or just transferring that prize money toward your 2011 entry by today. That way we have it correct when you verify your prize this week. This is important for accounting and we talked about this extensively in St. Louis last week. These "free" entries are NOT free within accounting and thus we have to get this right and you have to let us know how you want to receive this "payment." Please do that by today so that we have this set up correctly on your page when you verify this prize. Then we'll know how to release these funds.

Fanball acquired the NFBC on Aug. 15th of last year and paid NFBC winners before the end of October. Everyone involved wanted to keep the same payment schedule NFBC owners had experienced in the past. Unfortunately, that meant paying these prizes before other Fanball prizes, which really isn't fair to the thousands of other Fanball players. The total amount of winners and prize money for Fanball's other fantasy games dwarf the NFBC totals. Thus, this year we are doing everything we can to pay everyone at once in a timely fashion. Again, this involves thousands of winners and millions of dollars.

Those who only think of the NFBC are upset with this additional week or two in time. Those who see the big picture hopefully understand this is probably the right thing to do. And if all goes well this will be the week for the start of payments for everyone.

Greg, when was this inquiry sent out? I don't recall seeing an email. I have two of these options.

You won two free entries, so you're good to go. Same with many others who won free entries or Winner-Take-All leagues. This went out to those who had options of free entries or $1,300 and hadn't contacted him yet. Hope this helps.
Greg explained to me that you only receive the E-mail if there was an option between the free entry or cash as a prize. For the contest where I won a free entry, there was no cash option.

Since I was coming back anyway, it was a moot point, but thanks for the clarification Greg.

if a taxpayer was expecting a refund from the IRS and e-filed their return on October 4th (end of baseball season), they should expect their refund direct deposited by Friday, October 15th. If the taxpayer wanted to get a paper refund check, the IRS would mail it Friday, October 22nd. at most, it's a little over a 3 week process. see for yourself...

IRS

anyone want to guess which entity has more auditors and handles more money...Fanball or the IRS?

what kind of ridiculous message was Gekkos about the IRS?

Gekko likes to stir the pot. When you look up the definition of stirrer, you come up with:

"a person who deliberately causes trouble"

My opinion on why do people do this:

they can be just plain 'off' and like causing troubles and sitting back watching what happens because 'its fun' and they have nothing better to do (pretty boring life, huh?

Rock on Mr. Gekko. Certainly don't agree with everything he posts, but on this issue he is 100% correct. These funds should be paid out immediately and without hassle. Once the season ends, so should Fanball's profits on the interest/dividends/whatever they have invested the money in. Think about it. Everything is computerized now, and the money should be out FASTER, not SLOWER, than in the past. Again, nothing against Greg/Tom, my rant is against Fanball and their Corporate America attitude. By the way I didn't win any money in 2010 so this is all about principle and not my personal winnings.

to expect a check in the mail a month after the season ended is a perfectly reasonable expectation .. the fact we are in november and prizes havent even been claimed let alone mailed is a little disconcerting imo

Things we never hear from company's-

Wait, wait! Would all customers quit sending us checks! It is taking us more than a month to process them!

We are a big company. We have other checks besides the NFBC. We have auditors working to keep track of all the money coming in. There is millions of dollars coming in. Processing all this money takes time. So, if you'll hold on to your money till we can find the auditors and man hours to process it, we'd appreciate it.

Thank you- Management

Just pokin fun
Yes, freedom of speech is one of our great tools in this great society of ours. And by the way, make sure you go out and vote today. Use that great freedom you have. ;)

We allow freedom of speech on these message boards as well, so keep stating your honest feelings, all of you. We announced our plans to get this set up the first week of November and if that's the message you want to kill, go for it. As I've stated before, at F+W we sent out checks around the last Friday of October and we were applauded for our fast service. Now we might be 1 or 2 weeks behind that pace even though we're producing thousands of more checks for all of Fanball's winners and there's talk of tyranny. I get it.

Again, last I heard we were on pace to meet this time table and get this set up online. The process of claiming your prize will be quick and it will get the payment process started. If you hate the time table and can't understand any reason for it, go at it. But if we meet the time table we told you was coming, then... Anyway, we've been right here to openly tell you why and how this process will go and again my hope is that we'll have the links up soon and this process rolling.

But you have your freedom to criticize nonetheless. Just remember to exercise that freedom of speech today as well and go out and vote. ;)
