ONE SPOT LEFT For NFBC Diamond League

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:44 am

I don't want to try and push 2011 signups before our Registration page is live or 2010 payouts have been received, but I think it's fair to give a heads up to the NFBC Diamond League members from last year that this year's event could sell out quickly. I have given all participants from last year until Oct. 31st to commit to this year's event before opening it up to everyone else. And right now we have 11 returning members and two other members who are ready to jump in if a spot opens.

One of those new members is Stephen Jupinka, who won this year's $100,000 grand prize in the NFBC Main Event. Chris Plouffe is also ready to dive in if a spot opens. I'll contact the other Diamond League members this week to remind them of the Oct. 31st timeline and after that we'll fill this on a first-come, first-serve basis. Thanks all and look for the official Registration page for this event and all 2011 NFBC events in the next two weeks.

Here's the current signup list for the 2011 NFBC Diamond League:

NFBC Diamond League

Las Vegas, Venue TBD

Sunday, March 27, 10 am PT

1. Will Tyrer, Beverly Hills, California

2. Rick Thomas, Lewes, Delaware

3. Chris Poulson, Dublin, California

6. Scott Fleming, Totowa, New Jersey

7. Donn Johnson, Atlanta, Georgia

8. David DiDonato, Smithfield, Rhode Island

9. Rob Silver, Toronto, Ontario

10. Jim Ferrari, San Diego, California

11. Nick Cassavetes, Los Angeles, California

12. Glenn Schroter, Whitestone, New York

13. Stephen Jupinka, Waldwick, New Jersey

14. Chris Plouffe, Tallahassee, Florida

15. Kevin Schiller, Phoenix, Arizona

16. Chad Schroeder, Omaha, Nebraska

17. Joe Berg, Fullerton, California

18. Jim Ferrari (would do a 2nd team if another league forms)

Start cycling RT (and I aint talking bikes). Well you know Childs, he's all natural. I was juicing until they started testing but I think Gekko has found some new boutique item out there. He's at least 2 yrs ahead of the testers !

Yikes, this could sell out sooner than I ever expected. Calls to David DiDonato, Jim Ferrari and Rob Silver have brought three more debut Diamond League members back to the fold in 2011, giving us 10 returning members and at least 12 signups. THREE SPOTS LEFT!! Last year's owners have first dibs, so we'll see how this plays out, but if we sell out before Halloween that will be spooky!! ;)

Good to have RT back on the boards. Now I have to find a way to get his butt out to Arizona Fall League with me each year. ;) I think we can have a fun off-season of baseball talk on these boards, lots of slow drafts, player evaluation talk and more baseball talk here. We're on pace with the time lines for the web site and everything else, so let's get 2011 in our sights.

Do you have to be in Vegas to participate?

Glenn I think we will fill this first Diamond League with 15 participants in Las Vegas just from looking at the current list and those who I expect to return from last year's Diamond League. But if we have any interest in a second Diamond League, we'll definitely host that in Las Vegas and hook up others via teleconference, just like we did for the Super League last year. I have no problem doing that at all. With us now being able to track these online for those on the teleconference and even post the picks on the big online Draft Boards we'll have this year, this makes perfect sense to do it this way.

As for the foul ball at the AFL, Shawn played the first ball badly and did NOT catch that one. As luck would have it, the next pitch is fouled back to the exact same spot where Shawn was standing (giving a fantasy baseball lecture to some admiring kids) when he played the carom perfectly and got a souvenir on the second hop. Well played grasshopper....the second time. ;)

Nick Cassavetes and Eric Price are DEFINITELY coming back for the NFBC Diamond League, as expected. Nick led the Diamond League during the early going before falling out of the money, but he had another Top 20 finish in the Main Event and is ready for more baseball action in 2011. We now have 13 owners committed to the Diamond League and we still have four more owners from 2011 who can claim a spot if they want one.

GREAT START guys and let's keep the momentum rolling. We could fill this one up by Halloween. That's downright scary.

Just a heads up that we do have a 14th owner willing to jump into the NFBC Diamond League if any of last year's participants don't jump in by Oct. 31st. Kevin Schiller has thrown his hat into the ring. We have 11 of 15 owners from last year committed to return and three owners who would like to get in. We could have a full field by Halloween, which is pretty amazing. Thanks all.

It looks like we do have a full Diamond League now as Glenn Schroter has agreed to come back in 2011. That's GREAT NEWS!!! Right now we have 12 owners from last year's event back this year and 3 new owners who want to participate as well. Andy Robinson has also said he might return this year, but he just couldn't commit at this point.

Here are the 15 right now who want to participate. Obviously we can't finalize any of this just yet and we don't need payment until 2011, but it's great to see this event SOLD OUT by Halloween. Thanks all.

Wow, took a little break from all things fantasy baseball and this league already sold out? Wow. Count me as a waiting list member if anyone has to back out.

Chad Schroeder and Joe Berg are ready if we get a second Diamond League going. NICE!!

We'll see how this goes and we will be offering Ultimates and Supers on Sunday, March 27th as well. Joe will jump in those if this one doesn't fill, but let's keep this thread alive and we'll see what happens. Thanks all.

The signup list is on the first page of this thread at the top if you're interested. The first 15 owners are good to go and if anyone drops up then Chad moves in. Thanks.

Greg:

The Ultimates that you are offering, will that be both Auction and Serpentine style? Will both be offered the same day/time as the Diamond League or do you expect to stagger the start times? Using the two staples of Diamond League #1 and Ultimate Auction - what are the tentative start times of those two events on Sunday, March 27th.

The Diamond League is set for Sunday, March 27th at 10 am PT and the Ultimate Auction League is set for Sunday, March 27th at 4 pm PT. That worked well last year and we filled both leagues.

Right now I have an Ultimate Draft League set for Sunday, March 20th at 10 am PT that hopefully we can fill via teleconference. I have a Super League set for the same time and then I have Ultimate Drafts and Supers set for Sunday, March 27th at 10 am PT. I may even tweak the Ultimate a bit to add more value there; I'm still working with Ryan on that. If we need to move that time the second weekend I will, but it's tough with everything going on. I'd hate to go another year without an Ultimate Draft League when that was so prestigious before the rise of the Diamond League.

I'm open to suggestions if folks want to provide them. Thanks all.

Are you going to have an Ultimate auction league? I imagine you could get 15 players for this.
