Who's Coming To The 2011 NFBC And Where?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Nov 17, 2010 3:41 am

It's time to start welcoming those owners who have committed to the NFBC in 2011 and it's only appropriate that we start with our reigning NFBC Classic champion. Stephen Jupinka of Waldwick, New Jersey was one of our first entrants in 2004 and he has been among our best players for seven years now. He entered 2010 as our Lifetime Standings leader and then enhanced that position by winning our $100,000 grand prize and the overall title. Steve also won his fourth NFBC Main Event league title, joining Shawn Childs as our only players with four Main Event league titles in 7 years.

Steve will be returning to the Main Event in Atlantic City on Saturday, March 19 and also in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 26. Steve is also going to join the Diamond League on Sunday, March 27 in Las Vegas. I'm sure those owners are happy to see that!! ;)

Steve had a record-breaking season as he won Las Vegas League 5 with 144.5 points, a record for any main event league. Drafting out of the 12th spot, Steve's Quahogs led LV 5 in Runs, Batting Average, Steals, ERA and WHIP, while finishing second in RBI, Home Runs (tied for 2nd), Wins, Strikeouts and Saves. Just a dominating, dominating performance. 144.5 points is a record that likely will stand awhile.

He also set a new NFBC record in total points earned, finishing with 3,925.5 points. That was 90.24 percent of the available points, the highest percentage ever earned by an overall champion. Wow.

Steve battled for a Main Event title in Atlantic City 2, but his Quahogs finished fourth there with 92.5 points, just out of the money. Quahogs finished 95th overall in AC with 2,714.0 points.

Congratulations Steve on a memorable season and spend the prize money wisely!! Welcome back to the NFBC in 2010 and best of luck in the hunt for the $5,600 league prizes and the $100,000 grand prize in the Main Event. Oh, and enjoy the Diamond League and the $75,000 league prize that is offered there.
