Blame it on the Rio

Post by DiamondKing » Mon Mar 21, 2005 3:32 am

Hello everybody, had a great time at the draft. But,I would rather have root canal than stay another night at the Rio.Besides the rude staff they tried to charge me $35 for 3 0ne minute phone calls.I expect hotel markup but wow.I also did not notice a sign taped on the wall when I parked and was charged a $50 relocation fee to tow my car to another part of the parking lot .You pay $550 for two nights and I guess that doesn't get you treated well.Good luck to all.Dave

I have been to the Rio a few times and yes it is not the most friendly staff, but they cater to the high rollers and not the average Joe. I was fortunate, I knew someone to get a room and the service was excellent. The first time I stayed there I had similar problems with the staff at the Rio

I stayed at Extended Stay America and walked (about 8 minutes including wait to cross the main street) to Rio. Methinks the total price of my 3 night stay was equivalent to one night at the Rio. Accomondations were not luxurious but fine for sleeping. Staff was courteous.

I live outside of NYC so I drafted there. After I win my league this year, I figure I'll draft next year in Vegas. I wouldn't stay at the Rio either although I have never stayed there. Just too far off the strip. Stay someplace cheap next year. Flamingo, Frontier, or Imperial Palace. They're all old school but you are never in your room anyway and the location is key. I got the Imperial Palace for 70 a night for a weekend in November of 05.

Just don't wake up late for the draft, that might worry me a little.

Why didn't you use your cell phone or valet your car? Both are virtually free.

You can't beat Bikini Blackjack though. Try it next time.

I can assure you that betting $50/hand for several hours will get you better service.

$200 a hand or better will get you treated very well at treasure island where I stayed. In fact my host comes and finds me every day and asks if I need any thing. Bikini's aren't that great there are beautiful woman walking by all the time in most hotel's.
