let's say you are the general manager of a major league franchise what duties does he have to complete to bring his major league team a chance at winning a division title and beyond? i mean if you are talking baseball let's talk baseball. if you are talking playing a fantasy game that is devoid of all the aspects of managing a real franchise then you are playing what?
cdm games and real bases they don't mix well. the nfbc drafts rosters' and does bidding on guys off of the waiver wire....whoop de doo. and that my friends is not even close to what a major league general manager does during his day to day activities. so, to say that i have no point to my post is shallow and believe me i'm not so good at being shallow. and, playing in shallowland doesn't do me any good. the whole point of this charade is that everybody that joins any of this is playing a game of craps. if you have a little skill and a lot of luck you are welcome. if you have some skills and no luck than you are sunk. many of the big time fantasy writers who play in private draft league's are of a mind that in game draft day strategy is the key to pulling off a good roster and thus a chance at winning. and, that my friends' is really the game we are trying to play.....draft with an edge and pray that your guys don't get hurt because the open waiver wire market might not help you. if i have 4 dl guys all at once maybe i will buy one player to replace one guy in that first week. in our private league's we had the DL waiver wire moves for all owners who had guys on the DL. we added transactions later for which each owner paid a fee to make a transaction for no good reason but to get rid of a bum to pick up a better bum. but, those paid for transactions had to take a backseat to any claims made by DL'd players. oh, we do have a rule hear that you can't claim any player on friday unless he is on the DL i did forget that so let's give credit where credit is do.
regarding your comment about trading league's being less competitive then the NFBC FORMAT is absolutely senseless. do i need to continue? NO! as it is most people here are pretty glib on things because they are all resident experts on everything from toaster ovens to medieval castles. look, any league format can have strong owners and weak owners just because a couple of weak owners might exist in keeper/trade league's is stupid. we had rules in place to placate any attempt at collusion folks and rules to offset the one sided trade that included a dumb owner being duped into giving away his best player for a couple of cheapo prospects. still, men wanted to wear dresses instead of being manly men. so, goodbye trading and goodbye real roto and real bases.
oops, and after this year i am going to ride off into the sunset and just handicap major league teams rather then trying to decipher which player is going to be another JOSE BAUTISTA or GRADY ANDERSON. And I'm the one with "issues"
MJP, this is fantasy baseball, fantasy. It is not a precursor to you getting a GM job in baseball (and neither is handicapping games), so chill and enjoy it for what it is. Insulting those who compete here does nothing but make you look like an angry buffoon. We know what the game is about even without your insightful rants about how it is not the same as running an MLB franchise.
Damn, Duke...remind me not to get on your bad side  Or maybe I already am?

Is today the big day that the NFBC gets a new owner? Any announcements forthcoming?
