The Chat Room is solid, the guys are having fun and the draft is moving relatively well. I think it does help if someone takes charge and asks to alert owners when their time is coming up. I know that's not the job of any one owner in a Slow Draft, but it helps if there's one leader in each bunch.
Everyone checked in except for one owner who I know is on vacation. I've agreed to jump in and make picks for anyone who emails me at [email protected]. I'm not awake all of the hours, but I'll help where I can. Since everyone is logged in now except one, I think it's imperative that everyone be ready when their picks are made to keep these moving. There's no reason why we shouldn't be through two rounds a day.
Everyone was excited to get these live and I knew that initially we'd start slowly because there was no set start time and we ramped these up without the ability to email all of the owners right away. My hope is that once we get rolling everyone will pick up the pace.
And don't be afraid to see which owners can convene at night for a few rounds. These are like small communities and hopefully folks will cooperate once these get moving. If you're having trouble with any individual owner or two, let me know and I'll reach out to them.
Tom and I are trying to be as proactive as can be without interfering, but it's up to each owner and each league to keep these moving. And once they do the pace should quicken. Help where you can and contact me if you need further help.

Yes, having done slow drafts now for about 6 years and running several leagues, it really does take guys to be flexible and willing to share phone numbers, etc.. Doesn't mean you have to be married to the draft, but you have to be around and most importantly COMMUNICATE! A simple one line text like..
"Hey guys, will be out tonight for a couple of hours with the wife, be back around 10'ish"
goes a long way... also the proverbial check first thing when you wake up, and just before you go to sleep goes a long ways too..
I swear I could write a book on these things..

4.8 after having a guy miss out on his first two picks (20 hours waiting pattern) and then having another owner request the admin to reverse a pick he made when he erroneously drafted a player too early.
How did we get to 4.8? Thanks to Greg who contacted the missing owner and to Tom who immediately joined our Room and reversed the erroneous pick.
We have a fantastic group of owners. No one got upset at the owner who missed his first two picks -- he was welcoming twins while we were plotting world domination from a computer screen. In fact, we all joined in congratulating him. He's now online from the hospital, even commenting regularly on the message board. I hope his twins never find out, lol.

That's a cool story and congrats to Brandon. Now that's dedication!!!
These do become like small communities or small social networks and the league members can really get to know each other if they run well. Kick back and discuss the merits of certain players among the group, talk baseball, family or anything else, and enjoy the 3+ weeks together. That also gets them moving as everyone trusts each other to converse and be there when needed. I hope these flow better rather than just have people come on here and say they are slow. Well, they are Slow Drafts, but they can be fun Slow Drafts if someone takes charge and the rest follow his lead. I think everyone wants to move these along, but sometimes it takes a little push to get them ready each time.
Again, Tom and I are around during the day and most nights if you can't get to a computer but need us to jump in and make your pick. We can do that for anyone in the system. Just email us and we'll do it. We want these to move along as much as you do.

The $375 league is in round 16. Doing pretty well getting around the Stan(d)ard nightly "dinners". Going pretty well.

We started the Slow Drafts last Tuesday afternoon, 10 in all and one the next day. Everyone who signed up logged in and is drafting now, which was good news considering it had been six weeks since some folks signed up for these. I said our goal was to average at least two rounds per day and as you can see from the data below we are doing better than that for all of the leagues. Some are faster than others, but all are on pace to finish before the live drafts.
Here's what round these 11 Slow Drafts are currently in:
13
18
15
15
22
15
31
21
17
18
14 (started Wednesday)
The one in Round 31 is the $1,000 Slow Draft. Those folks are cruisin' and having fun at the same time!!
Good job all and keep things moving. We're here to help if you need any.
