It's a fun, fun contest and we sold out all three levels this year. The multiplier scoring system is unlike anything anyone else does and is a lot of fun. Next year with STATS running this, I really think we can blow this out and even find a big promotional partner for a free version of this contest.
Now I'd like to solve this idea in baseball. We have never run an NFBC Post-Season contest and this year I want to do that, thus extending our season another month or so. And I want your input in this concept because I don't have the answers here. I do want these type of guidelines, though:
** I want an open contest for 100-150 per price level, not a draft. I want folks to easily pick any player they want to fill their rosters from the eight playoff teams.
** I want to limit the number of players you can have per team to 4 to fill your 30-man roster. Maybe 5, but as you can see I want to force owners to make the tough roster decisions by limiting the number of available stars per team to a small amount.
** Now for the tough part. What should we do when your players are eliminated in the first round and the second round? Do we allow you to replace them or just leave those spots vacant? I don't think you can use a multiplier in this setup, or can you? Or is this best just to lose those spots and not add anyone else during the post-season? I'm looking for suggestions.
** What price levels make sense here? I'm not looking to get rich here, just have a contest that everyone can enjoy for a month and keep this community together long enough until we start the Slow Draft Championship in November. Is the same $30, $60, $120 model good enough or too low? Remember, I have to guarantee the prizes based on projected team totals, so I have to be smart here. In the NFFC, our grand prizes are $2,500, $5,000 and $10,000 at the $30-$60-$120 levels, so it adds up when you get to 150 teams.
I'm thinking ahead as you can see, but I'd love to nail down a fun Post-Season format and roll this out at the end of this season. I look forward to some feedback from you clever souls and we'll create this monster together. I think I'm close, but I want feedback to make it work. Let's keep innovating and stay ahead of everyone else. And then let's give it to our STATS IT department to perfect it and make it run smoothly.
