Eight Candidates In Line For NFBC Hall Of Fame

As we had mentioned earlier this year, the NFBC is going to create a Hall of Fame to honor our top players and continue adding to this list going forward. Tom and I went through the accomplishments of the top players in our contest and I posted the resumes on another thread. There are many other worthy participants who deserve consideration for this honor in the future, but right now we have narrowed our list to eight finalists for this honor. Congratulations to all eight owners. You are all definitely worthy.

I will post their results here again for all to see. I would say they are on the ballot, but honestly for this inaugural class and with the change of ownership happening twice in the last 18 months and everything else that has gone on, the only democratic way to do this is to have Tom and I choose the winners!! Sorry. We could have done a poll of our members and mixed in a percentage of sway that way and many other methods, but Tom and I have the criteria in front of us, we know how special this HOF can be in the future and thus we are going to start out by selecting the Inaugural Class for the NFBC Hall of Fame. Blame or laud us if you'd like.



We'll announce the Hall of Fame members early next week and toast a drink to them at the live drafts later this month. We'll ask for a speech, but we'll force them to make it brief!! Congrats all and let's keep pushing the bar higher and honor those who have topped the bar so far.

He will admit that this wasn't his best NFBC season as he finished the lowest ever in the Main Event, placing 7th and 8th in his Las Vegas leagues and 154th and 214th overall. But in the six previous seasons, Shawn won four of six league titles and finished second one other year. And his four Top 5 overall finishes are unprecedented.

In the overall standings, he has finished in the Top 6 three times and in the Top 15 four times. This past season he was the only NFBC owner to win two Main Event titles (winning in Atlantic City and in New York on following weekends) and he finished 2nd overall and 15th overall. He has finished 93rd, 74th, 106th, 5th, 6th, 96th, 2nd and 15th.



Interestingly, his best finish during the first three seasons of the NFBC was a fifth place, but during the last four seasons he's been highly successful. His first Main Event league title came in 2007, but since 2008 he has won 10 league titles out of 26 leagues and last year he cashed in 13 of 14 events he entered and won six league titles.

Mark has also won titles in a couple of different formats. He has won:

Terry won the NFBC overall title in 2007 and finished fourth overall in our debut season of 2004. He finished 26th overall in 2009 when unfortunately he finished fourth in his league. His overall finishes include: 4, 176, 125, 1, 285, 26 and 61. He won the first two live events he participated in with the NFBC in 2004: His Main Event and the $1,250 NL Auction League.



My records might be off slightly, but Terry has spent approximately $42,000 in NFBC entry fees and has won just over $125,000. Winning the overall title will certainly help those numbers, but that's impressive nonetheless.



Terry has five runner-up finishes to go with his three league titles, including a second place in a pair of 12-team Online Championships. He also has a third place finish in the Ultimate Auction League.

David won the $100,000 grand prize during his second year in the NFBC (2006) and has four Top 70 finishes. He has finished 70th, 1st, 64th, 97th, 157th and 65th.



But David is our second leading money winner in the NFBC thanks to his overall title and his dominance in the very high-stakes private leagues. He is the only NFBC owner to win two Ultimate Draft Leagues and he finished third in two other Ultimates. He also finished second last year in the debut NFBC Diamond League. Although he has competed in only 15 NFBC events to date, he has won four and has one of the very best cost/winnings ratios in the NFBC.

Lindy had the perfect season in 2009, winning the overall titles in the Main Event and the Online Championship to earn a $75,000 cash bonus. It's now called "The Lindy." He remains our NFBC Money Leader thanks to that $241,300 season. He has been competing in the Main Event since 2005 and has finished 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 5th, 1st and 14th.



He struggled this year to defend his Main Event title and cashed in only one of six events, a second place finish in the Live Double Play.



My records might be off slightly because I know Lindy shared teams early on with other owners, but it looks like Lindy has spent approximately $48,000 in NFBC entry fees and has won $245,300 (not counting partnerships).



Lindy has the two league titles from 2009 and has finished second in the Ultimate Auction League three times, just missing a title in that prestigious event. He also has a second and a third place finish in the $1,250 NL Auction League.

They admittedly have had more success in auctions than drafts, having finished overall in the main event 150th, 31st, 196th, 68th, 167th, 104th and 6th.
