In that case, I'm sure your 2nd weekend draft will be impressive for someone who isn't playing. Sorry about the confusion.

I looked over this team, yes he got some potential great bargains (If they stay healthy) with Morneau and Morales...but after reviewing his team unless Michael Bourne steals 100+ bases he will be chasing speed and as well as saves (Gregg, Bailey, Fuentes) to be a national contender. My guess he'll be scouring the waiver wire all year for those two categories.
Build it and they will come...

My team has weaknesses on draft day just like everyone not named John Zaleski does

WOW!!!!! Looks like morning line favorite so far... I drafted right behind this spot and have what is probably the most embarrassing main event draft in the history of the NFBC. I was going to grab Sabbathia and he went, which I thought might not happen seeing as how he had Lester. I was willing to risk the pitching if IEthier fell one more spot, he didn't. As far as the others I decided early on I wasn't taking health risks, although I did with Sizemore in the 16th.

Here's how I started and was ok with it for awhile. It totaly got away from me. This is from the 6 spot.

Cabrera

Hamilton

Reyes

Weeks (I regret)

Butler (early but I wanted him)

Liriano

McGehee

Sanchez

Abreau (a reach, but liked the guarantee)

Kimbrel (a chance, he'll get the job full time)

Franklin (closers were gone)

Volquez

A. Soriano

Pena

Vasquez

Sizemore

Bla Bla Bla. It just gets worse and worse. The construction is absolutely horrible and I know it. I was helping a friend draft a yahoo local league at the same time, No excuse. I get a chance to redeem myself next weekend and it will be a totally different approach.

I hope to salvage a shot at a league prize but realize I have no chance at the 100k. I will be extremely active on the waiver wire early trying to reconstruct this team. What a mess....

I need next week to get here to put this nightmare behind me......
There is nothing wrong with that team. I agree with you on not liking Weeks in the 4th when you already had injury risk on that team. I think you reached on Butler 90% chance you get him a round later. I also disagree with the assumption there is anything guaranteed in Abreu's performance. I know that sounds kind of negative. The bottom line is other than that I like the team and think you could win money with it.

Joe - Not sure I'm seeing the negative in your picks. You probably got good value on your top 3 picks. I wouldn't beat yourself up with that team. No reason you couldn't compete with what I see.

Mark, I was ok up until this point. Nine of the ten picks prior to Liriano were pitchers. I was OK with it. After the players I've mentioned I took S. Rodreiguiz, Luke Scott and Arincibia. Probably still ok. My second SS came very late, I'll drop him first week. Hopefully Reyes plays a lot of games. I'm short pitchers (10 total), middle infielders and outfielders. I have 3 stud 1B for gods sake along with Luke Scott who can only DH. I took 3 catchers. I did not keep track of positions, which is so inexcusable it makes me ill.
Thanks, I'm beating myself up over the construction of the positions. An injury or two and I'm cooked. I have to hit on every pitcher, which won't happen. I'll have to drop a catcher that someone should've used a low to mid 20th round pick on although I like the security of getting to pick two from the three. This team cannot win without some serious help.

I really appreciate you and Chest commenting here. I'll look you up next weekend.

Joe - Just took a look. Overall your offense is fine. It looks pretty well constructed as a whole. Again, not sure why you are beating yourself up. You probably have one of the better offenses I've seen so far.

You got two closers. Check.

My concern is with your starting pitching. A lot of risk with that group as a whole and like you mentioned, not much depth. I know some of the sharks are "all in" on Volquez this year so maybe he can be a 12th rounder that performs as a 5th rounder. Would be a big help to you.

Good luck.

Good luck. Thanks, I'm glad I posted this, maybe I can get some sleep tonight. A lot of work to do on the waiver wire. I'll be very active very early.

Who would've ever thought the Gekko man would bring this money guy some comfort.

Thanks Mark.

That was a fun weekend. Had some good drafts and not so good drafts.

My favorite of all was last night's Ultimate. I was in the 1 spot and nearly crapped myself with joy when pick 30 came back to me and Ryan Zimmerman and Nelson Cruz were still there. Pujols, Cruz, Zimmerman is far better than my most optimistic projections for my first 3 picks in that spot.

Here's a Live Double Play from the 5 spot: I'll be FAABing for saves, but that's not a big deal in a 12 team league.

21 Pierzynski, A.J.

27 Hundley, Nicholas

1 Cabrera, Miguel

18 Davis, Ike

7 Sandoval, Pablo

3 Kinsler, Ian

16 Aviles, Mike

11 Desmond, Ian

4 Ellsbury, Jacoby M

6 Werth, Jayson

8 Rasmus, Colby

10 Pagan, Angel

15 Swisher, Nick

19 Torres, Andres

2 Halladay, Roy

5 Weaver, Jered

9 Morrow, Brandon

13 Kuroda, Hiroki

14 Lewis, Colby

17 Peavy, Jake

22 Minor, Mike

23 McGee, Jake

12 Thornton, Matt

20 Encarnacion, Edwin

24 Drabek, Kyle

25 Peralta, Jhonny

26 Bedard, Erik

28 Madson, Ryan

29 Kuo, Hong-Chih

30 Trumbo, Mark

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FYI, all the Vegas draft boards are up

http://twitter.com/#!/thenfbc

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So who's the rocket scientist that posted all of the Vegas boards? I posted my draft because I thought the NFBC was doing it. It certainly appeared that way via the link.

It won't affect me because I hate my team and will draft from a totally different position this weekend.

What it does do is give the guys who are already so very very good at this a game a chance to analyze every detail. They will find the weaknesses in the drafts the 99% of us cannot see. Plus they have the time to do it.

This is borderline malicious. Can't see how it could be an honest mistake as it took a concentrated effort to take pictures and post them without other owners consent.

To the NFBC, sorry if this sounds negative, I simply felt it needed to be stated.
