I understand Chase Utley and Kendrys Morales slipping in drafts, but I don't get Morneau going in the 6th or 7th round. Utley may miss 1-3 months or the whole darn season. Morales news isn't getting better and he probably misses a month best case scenario. But Morneau is playing and I'd be real surprised if he isn't in the opening day lineup.

Yeah I get the post concussion syndrome thing. He has been working out and progressing all winter long. He has consistently been a top 15-20 pick. Last year before the injury he was having his best season ever.

I don't see the risk as much as I see the reward! He hasn't attempted a stolen base since 2008. I've never seen him dive head first into a base. Sure there are collisions in baseball and definitely at 1B but I don't see him taking a chance on a play where he could be at risk. He'll probably DH a little more than he usually does.

He hasn't had much success this spring but a whole lot of guys haven't hit. He has played the field, played in consecutive games, played at night and during the day.

I guess I'm just surprised that his ADP actually went down after the first weekend of the Main Event.

As with all these thoughts, projections and other crap we will "Neau Mor" once the first pitch is thrown. I probably took him earlier than most but I don't care I'll live with it. But really the 10th 1B off the board?!? I'll take .300-30-110 in round four thank you very much! Or maybe I'll get .222-5-24 but that's why we play the game!

Good luck with your drafts this weekend and good luck this year everybody!

Maybe in a couple of leagues he went late, but Morneau has been going in the 4th round in just about every other league. I think that's an acceptable spot to draft him.

Of course, if you let me have him in the 7th, I promise not to complain! :D

Well that's good to hear Glenn! I took him in the fourth myself but his ADP went from 42 to 54 after the first weekend so I figured I pulled the trigger to early for some...not for me I'm happy with him!

I wouldn't go anywhere near him with my 1st 5 picks, but that's just my opinion. If you're expecting 600 PA, I think you're wrong. They will be extra cautious, and they already have too many bats for the 1B/DH/OF spots with Young, Cuddyer, Kubel, Thome, Morneau, Span, and Mauer when he needs a blow, which makes it easy to rest him. Even if everything goes perfectly, I see Morneau getting two days off a week the first few months.

Corey Koskie tried to come back, couldn't and had to retire from concussions.

After reading the article on Morneau on ESPN.com, I became more leary about taking him. It really is an everyday injury and setbacks seem almost likely. Morneau was off to a hot start last year, but it's not the same Morneau now.

It's funny, after taking a guy like Morneau in the 5th or Utley in the 10th or Sizemore in the 15th, you start saying to yourself, 'yeah, sure he'll be ok', and if passing on him, you pat yourself on the back, and say, 'Glad I don't have to deal with that headache'.

Part of the fantasy life.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

I took Morneau in the 6th of the Ultimate. I thought that was fair value for the risk vs. reward.

Doughboys, I think you hit the nail on the head here. I'm convincing myself that he's a bargain. If McCann can come back from almost being blind I hope for his sake (and my fantasy teams) that Morneau can fully recover. Time will tell...
