How about a Live DP Roster

Post by ALL-IN JD » Mon Mar 28, 2011 3:05 pm

On thing about doing a Live DP (right after a 15 team draft team draft) is looking down and saying "holy **** , what a stacked team" and then realize most everyone else is saying the same thing! I decided to hit pitching hard, really hard, and try to still come out with a solid offense (Drafted Second):

1) Hanley Ramirez (no brainer I guess from the two hole)

2) Tim Lincecum - Time to start my staff with a stud (was deciding between him and King Felix)

3) Felix Hernandez - Made choosing between the two a moot point

4) Sin Soo Choo - Was considering another pitcher but seeing Choo there at 47, could not pass him up

5) David Price - Decided to add my number three and have a man crush on Price this year. Certainly a tremendous number three but my work cut out to craft a solid offense

6) Chris Young - While I worry about his BA I love the power speed combo here

7) Shane Victorino - I know outfield is a little on the lean side so I go for OF number three here. Should provide solid numbers if he can stay on the field

8) Carlos Marmol - Decide to pair my trio of studs with a top closer so Marmol was the choice

9) Kelly Johnson - Really like Johnson in that hitter friendly park. Trying to stay away from judy's in the DP so liking the power/speed guys (realizing average might suffer)

10) Matt Thornton - Love the pairing with Marmol as both will strike out over 100 +.

11) Vernon Wells - should be solid in the middle of the Angel lineup and a good fourth OF

12) Aubrey Huff - Good spot to grab my 1B. Should be able to pencil him in for 25-90.

13) Daniel Hudson - Really digging Hudson as my number four starter. Expecting a very solid season with good ratios

14) Ian Desmond - Time for a little offense run and fill my MI with another "upside" power speed guy

15) Gaby Sanchez - Mashing this spring (doesn't necessarily mean much) and really think he takes a big step forward this year

16) Denard Span - Very happy with my power bats so I decide to roster a judy after all. Span can defintely give a boost to my BA with 25-30 steals

17) Kila - Decide to get a little creative and reach for Kila in the 17th. Probably a little early but destroying the ball this spring so i'm drinking the pineapple Kool Aid!

18) Michael Pineda - Another gamble on a guy with a dominant spring. My thinking was with four huge arms already secured Pineda was well worth the reach.

19) Chris Ianetta - Time to add a catcher and Ianetta is the best one left. Obvious BA drag but hoping for a .250-.260 year with nice pop.

20) Jake McGee - A little spec here but once again, with Marmol and Thornton already secured, i'm gambling that McGee HAS to beat out Farnsworth and Peralta at some point.

21) Carlos Zambrano - With way above average ratios i'll gamble on Big Z. He finished up really strong and I am hoping he will carry that over.

22) Chipper Jones - Had to skimp somewhere so it looks like it will be at 3B. Hopefully a return to health can mean a solid season.

23) A.J. Pierzynski - Could do worse with my second catcher in the 23rd round.

24) Chris Young - Another speculative with nice upside in a very pitcher friendly park.

25) Alex Gordon - Needed my fifth OF and unfortunately I have been on the wrong end of Alex Gordon for many years so what the heck!

Last 5 picks were Madson, Freese, McLellan, Salty and Santana
