How Do You Like The Live Standings Feature?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Mar 31, 2011 8:44 am

If you haven't found it yet, click on SCORES and then pull down to LIVE. That's where Live Scoring is located and Live Standings. Your league standings are already being updated in real-time as the games are progressing. Who's leading your league as of 2:45 pm ET? :D

STATS has added a really cool feature on that page: MLB Scoreboard. Click on the inning hyperlink and you'll have the box score for that game. WOW, nice.

Okay, here's another neat feature: There's a Live Chat within Live Scoring!!! Click on the "Click Here to Chat with Teams in Your League" link and have a Live Chat with your league mates. WOW. I like that.

Keep scrolling down and you'll see another neat feature: "Show My Team Matched Up Against". You can see how you compare against any other team in your league. At the very bottom you can even see who is logged into Live Scoring within your league. WOW. I'm telling you, I'm finding new cool features as we go today that I didn't even know about.

Are you having fun yet? How do you like it so far? ;)

Looks fantastic Greg.

Please make sure basketball is as good as this if we have an NBA season as this software for baseball is making me feel somewhat short changed...

Yes, this is what you'll see for basketball, for sure. It's about time we take basketball to a new level and give you long-suffering NFBBC members the best commissioner product around. Tell Eric Wong what this looks like so he can feel better about the future. ;) You'll love this Live Scoring/Standings feature for hoops.

Live Chat is a great addition Greg!

One drawback has always been the lack of back and forth between owners. With people bumping into it other in the scoring room - this feature should be a nice antidote to that.

Last year we struggled to get any action on that smallish League Message Board. I'm not sure the folks there understood how that league community loved interaction more DURING the season than before the season. This should solve that and I can just imagine the smack talk in September when big bucks are on the line. This is going to be a real nice addition to your league pages.

I can ask about possibly updating that at longer intervals (every 10 minutes or so), but I think it will be tough. But we'll explore that a little and see what the future holds. Thanks.

Live standings is great except that they are not accurate at this time because of the ERA WHIP catagorys. No innings pitched is giving many teams

points which make the standings incorrect.
Joe, you're not realizing that you're in a penthouse on Park Avenue right now. The software for the NFBBC contest mercifully in its final three weeks is the most atrocious piece of garbage software since fantasy leagues were done with paper and pencil. At least back then you didn't have to wait thirty seconds to flip from one piece of paper to another.

However, the game itself is so great that while the mind-bogglingly counter-intuitive software tries hard to distract you, you don't end up minding. The competition and game dynamics are just that good. Fantasy basketball is much closer to Fantasy baseball than Fantasy Football, and its not even close. Counting cats, percentage cats, dual-eligibilities, FAAB of course, roto-style not head-to-head, and so on. Its good stuff. Nothing against FF, just saying.

This year, knock on wood, it looks like we're already being spoiled. Its hard not being blown away so far.

I like it. Wish there was an easier way to switch between my many NFBC teams.

The multiple team "toggle" that Fanball implemented to switch easily between the Live Scoring, Set Lineup, Free Agent, etc. pages of different teams without having to go back to the My Teams page was a tremendous times savings and one of the few bright spots of Fanball's software last year.

Hopefully, STATS can implement something similar into their software.
When I go in it's the right numbers but after a few seconds it updates to everyone being on 65 points - and showing the points change up or down from yesterday's points....almost like thyey are daily standings not cummulative.
Yup, I see what your saying now. I didn't wait long enough for it to refresh. Interesting it has the plus minus points there though from the day before.

OK it's right now.

(apart from the fact the overall standings don't give you credit for ERA & WHIP if you haven't had a pitcher play yet, whereas the live standings do)

the league reports are exquisite, guys; coming from a time when fantasy was just that, i find it remarkable to be able to see and enjoy this stuff with the morning coffee; this is above and beyond what players should have expected, and coming on the heels of fanball's fiasco, it is more than welcome; been blessed to have seen many of the greats, and to be a partner of both lindy hinkelman and ken magner here (and rich verost last season)....i'd call this the finest baseball moment ever....had i not seen dimaggio play

It really is impossible for Greg and I to thank our tech guys enough and give them the praise they deserve for all they have done. Granted, they had much of this in place since they had run our games before our move to Fanball but they still dusted everything off, added some great new features, and put everything together in the span of weeks things that often can take months to develop.

Our tech guys really have done an outstanding job and we're glad everyone is enjoying the fruits of their labor.

Hey Tom

Before you hang that "Mission Accomplish" banner, could you please have your tech guys fix it so I don't have to log in every time I wish to view my team(s)? I'm not sure if others are having this issue , but I am hoping that this can addressed more sooner than later... Thanks
