According to Baltimore Sun, it appears that he will be called up to make his first start on Sunday due to Matusz' injury.

I know this kid and his family personally. He's a great kid and doesn't get rattled. He's excited about Sunday obviously. I don't think he'll be going anywhere soon.

Two guys in the Orioles rotation (Britton, Arrieta) both have ties to my family and small hometown. Pretty crazy.

After doing some research on this kid, I tried to grab him wherever I could.

He has 3 major league ready pitches right now and his changeup is not far behind. I think he is going to make it very difficult on the Orioles to send him down again.

I grabbed Britton in the 20th round of a Keeper League! I am totally pumped at the thoughts of keeping him the next 3 years in the 20th round if he does what I think he can do!

Is Britton going to be in the free agent pool today?

That would eliminate all the "was he or wasn't he called up" arguments.
From the rules:

12. Free Agents

Any player who is not on a team roster within your league and is on a major league roster or once was on an NFBC team in your league is considered a free agent for that league. Even players on the MLB disabled list are eligible to be picked up during the FAAB bidding process. The player pool is deemed closed of new free agents each Sunday at 7 AM ET before the FAAB bidding deadline and a player must have played at least 1 MLB game to be added to the pool at that time. Participants should note that MLB unsigned veteran free agents at the time of Draft Day are eligible to be picked up or bid on in the NFBC Auction Championship.

I am happy that I drafted him. Too bad I did not have the Nostradumus foresight to have put him in the starting lineup.

Hi,

Great to hear he is a nice guy. Funny family connections. However, lest' we forget, let's temper expections given the AL East....

Looks like the "real deal". If he could dominate a red hot Texas Rangers team, he may be able to thrive in the AL East.

Hmmmm, sounds about right.

In all seriousness, he is off to one helluva start.
You're too funny Bud. Never did I say he wasn't worth bidding on. I'm just throwing some reality checks out there before the overbidding starts.

I remember you and I having similar message board debates last year about your $400 recommendations on Smoak and E. Young and so on and so on. I wonder how those overbids went? Funny that I also don't remember seeing a $400 bid from you on any of those players once the results were out (or any bid for that matter).

Why do I have a feeling I won't see a $400 bid from either Mark Srebro or Frank Kowalski once again when Tom posts the FAAB results on Britton Monday morning? Can't be certain, but for some reason I have a feelin'..... ;)

Anyone care to guess what his innings cap is?

160-175 innings as long as they are in contention. the minute they are not, it drops to 130 or so and possible shutdown in September just like the Jays did last with Morrow. I agree the Yanks could very well light this kid up this week! They wont bit on the breaking stuff.

Do you start him in Boston against the Bosox? That's part of the issue with Britton. How much are you willing to pay for someone who'll have an innings cap and you might not even play every week? Of course, he did look very good against the Rangers yesterday. I'd feel a lot better about him though if he had 10 K's instead of 2. I guess it all depends on how you feel about those extreme groundballer types.

I will be bidding on him in my leagues where he's still available including the Ultimate, though it will be more to price enforce than having to have him. What I still have to figure out is what's the right number to go in with where noone gets him for less than they should, but if I end up with him I didn't overspend. Still have some thinking to do on that one. One thing I'll guarantee is it won't be anywhere near your recommended price.
