And he gets a clean slate in the 10th and walks back to back hitters to lead off 10th

I typed that post before I saw Thornton start the inning with a walk, a walk, single = run scored, no outs.

How much more "reasoning" do you want?

Is it me or is Ozzie the dumbest manager in baseball??

Sale should have not pitched today after pitching 2 innings and throwing 35 pitches the night before.

it's also possible that ozzie knows thornton has lost his confidence and didn't want him pitching today

Not gonna lie; I'm really enjoying watching Thornton falter...I couldn't understand all of the faith in him before the season.

if you listened to Ozzie's post game tirade (classic as usual from the Oz ;) ) he basically said the entire bullpen sucked and didn't do their jobs.

I got Thornton in the 14th rd on 3/8 satellite. On the 29th I had to use a 8th rd pk to get him (furious closer run in that league)....I can't deny I wasn't really sure what I was gonna get w/ him, but now I think I know. He is a left handed Ryan Madsen. $$$ in the 8th and falls apart and inning later :(

every yr w/ these gawddamn closers

This mess in on the manager. I bought in on my 12 team leagues, knowing full well that Ozzie could become the problem. Anybody can blow a close game like Thornton did the first time out. However, the next two chances were on his defense, especially Juan Pierre. Instead of putting this to bed, OZZIE has fanned the flames.

His actions today have made matters much worse. As previously stated, he brings Sale in with a three run lead after 2 innings last night. A) tells me that is the guy Ozzie wants to close. B) kicked the already fragile Thornton in the groin. Sale starts to give it up, now he turns to Crain. Jesse didn't get much rope and so the wizard of OZ trots Thornton out. K's Sweeney and than gives up a texas leaguer to tie the game. I now think it will be awhile ( if at all ) until Matt is trusted again. No clue what that crazy man in Chicago is going to do next ......... shame on me for trusting Thornton's skill set with an unpredictable manager at the helm.

Ozzie has done a terrible job with that bullpen which has quality arms. I used to not trust Pinellia with the Cubs as well. Now I don't trust Ozzie

the closer position in Chicago is F'd now. no one will get enough to be playable, short of maybe sale.

sale is obviously the guy they want longterm and from his usage so far, he is the guy ozzie trusts the most. however, i think ozzie will still use crain and santos for some saves when righties dominate the lineup in the 9th and when sale needs a break. and i'm sure thornton will still end up with a handful.

on top of all of that, anyone including sale could be in the doghouse with a single blown save.

good luck chasing saves in this environment. i need to seriously think about dropping thornton in all my leagues (and i got him in most of my big money leagues). sucks, but dem the breaks.

at BEST santos is half a closer.

at WORST sale is half a closer.

i fear sale gets 60-70% of opps, the other guys are left to divide up the scraps (and take up roster spots on our team  )

[/QUOTE]Hope you're right....have Sale on just about every team as my half closer.

And your closer is Sergio Santos.

4 out save against Jeter, Granderson, Tex, and ARod is about as tough it gets
