I know, it is early in the season. Thankfully, I haven't seen one serious 'On pace' post.
Here are a few stats that may be flying under the radar....
The Minnesota Twins have three home runs in 334 at bats and 10 games....
The Twins have averaged under 10 total bases a game....
They've scored 28 runs this season, Cincinnati has scored 72....
Despite a power ladened lineup, the Texas Rangers have only struck out 46 times.
In-state counterpart Houston, has struck out 90 times....
With opposing pitchers almost asking, 'Why should we, they can't hurt us', the Tampa Rays and Chicago Cubs are the only teams not to have a batter hit by a pitch this year...
Where's a Judy when you need one?-
The Atlanta Braves and Cubs have one stolen base this year...
There have already been 18 team shutouts this year....
The Phillies vaunted pitching staff have given up only 23 bb's this year.
The Pirates have handed out 46.....
After 11 games, the Red Sox E.R.A. is 6.77....
In 50 plate appearances, Albert Pujols has one extra base hit, Judy Pierre has two.....
Carl Crawford, another first rounder also has only one extra base hit....
Juan Rivera, Michael Cuddyer, Miguel Olivo, and pre-season star Michael Morse all have zero extra base hits....
Message Board Darling, Sam Fuld, has six extra base hits. Only five other players in baseball have more.....
29 of 39 Aaron Hill batted balls have found air, none have landed over the fence...
Mike Napoli has a homer in every 4.7 at bats....
AJ Pierzynski has not struck out in 39 at bats....
Jay Bruce has struck out 15 times, he has zero home runs.....
Pat Burrell has four home runs.....and four rbi......
Jimmy Rollins has been hitting third so far this year....He has zero rbi.....
Heyward, Braun, Pedroia, Headley, Pence, Kendrick, Reynolds, Beltran, Soriano, Span, Wells, and ARod can all be counted on to steal a few bases along with their other talents. None of these fellas has even attempted a stolen base.....
Three per cent of the balls off Vernon Wells bat this year have been line drives.....
Matt Garza has a 20/3 k/bb ratio....to go along with his 5.68 E.R.A......
Starlin Castro and Marlin Byrd have 36 hits this year. The Baltimore Orioles have 62.....
CC Sabathia has a 1.45 E.R.A. pitching for the mighty Yankees.
He hasn't won a game.....
I can't even do that against a pitching machine!-
So far, Vlad Guerrero has swung at over 90 per cent of the pitches thrown to him.....
Matt Garza's BABIP against is .541
Alexi Ogando's is .118
Lets see, is my fantasy pitcher facing Weaver or Haren? -
Jered Weaver and Dan Haren lead the Majors with three wins each.
The Angels have won six games this year......
Is it really a surprise? -
Rafael Furcal, during the last three seasons leading up to 2011, has averaged playing in just 84 games a year....
That is far less than Josh Hamilton's 126 games per year over the last three years....
Nellie Cruz owners beware, he has played an average of 89 games per over the last three year....
Despite a top of the order of Span, Mauer, and Morneau...The Minnesota Twins have not scored in the first inning, managing just four singles.
Span has not had a first inning hit....
For those of you with players off to bad starts this year, it all evens out, right?
For those of you with players off to hot starts this year, this game is so easy, right?

Good stuff. Good news for Garza owners.
Don't think the Nellie Cruz numbers are right (or at least they don't include minor league games)
2008: 134 (103 in minors)
2009: 131 (3 in minors)
2010: 116 (8 in minors)
Remember all the preseason quotes from Roenicke about how the Brewers were going to run wild? They've attempted 6 steals. Only Atl and Chi have attempted fewer

Two weeks into the season, Doughboys ("I wake up thinking about baseball stuff 365 days a year") is on pace for 533 posts over the regular season ...
Gekko ("i'm not playing this year", Feb 2011) has the same number of posts in the last week alone, putting him on pace for 1066.

[/QUOTE]Dan, I love these analysis posts too and I know how much you love looking at past historical baseball data. We're going to have a nice present for you and all NFBC members very soon that will provide you with more data than your head can handle. Stay tuned because I think everyone is going to like this new present. Tom and I just got a look-see and we were BLOWN AWAY from this data toy. Get ready for it.
