He's out today with hurt feelings. Terry Francona was quoted saying "Glenn and Todd really put a hurtin' on Youk this year, and it's catching up to him."

To Whomever it May Concern-

Please excuse little Kevy tonight from the lineup.

Some of those bully pitchers have been hitting him with pitches and it gives my boy, owwies.

Also, can you tell the other boys not to pick on Kevy for missing games?

It upsets his tummy and he may have to miss more time to get over that anguish.

Mrs. Youkilis. Kevin Youkilis (shoulder) is not in the in the Red Sox lineup Tuesday. Youkilis was plunked on his shoulder blade by a pitch during Monday's game and is taking a day off as a precautionary measure. He should be back Wednesday.

What a wimp....

Youkilis is taking another day off today for hamstrings.

We have the Chipper effect, a malady that strikes a player and renders him incapable of playing for a few days at a time, sometimes leading to the disabled list.

The Youkilis effect is less severe. It is more like the employee who calls in every two or three weeks to miss a day. Each call is a different excuse and one wonders how so many different owwies could happen to one person.

I was watching the Royals game when it happened. He hurt it busting his ass at least trying to beat out a play at first. But my goodness, for a guy I consider reasonably tough, he sure does get a lot of nagging stuff.

So, the eternal optimist in me is thinking....after the KC series, Boston is in Arlington for four games against the Rangers....Youk will break out then!

From Rotoworld: The Red Sox are expected to place Kevin Youkilis (back) on the disabled list. Youkilis has been bothered by discomfort in his lower back recently, so he'll get some time to rest.
