Why does this guy not get intentionally walked more?

Last year he hits 54 Home Runs and draws only 2 intentional walks.

This year he has drawn 1.

Miguel Cabrera already has 9.

Jim Leyland is the worst manager in baseball. He has first base open in the fourth with a man on and two outs. .229 hitting Juan Rivera on deck. Bautista hits it out. Leyland is an old man stuck in his old ways who refuses to adapt to a changing game.

Evan Longoria was walked in the first inning today and Cabrera has been a number of times as well this season.

It's time they start giving Bautista the same respect.

Maris wasn't intentionally walked once in '61. Of course that has at least a little to do with Mantle hitting behind him. Still, I'm sure some felt he hadn't earned that respect yet.

We didn't respect Bautista enough in March, maybe the managers are slow to respect him as well. I'm sure if he keeps hitting the way he's been hitting, that respect is coming.
