His FB velocity is down 1.5 MPH. His swinging strike % is 1/2 what it was 2 years ago. Batters don't swing at pitches out of the strike zone anymore (down 1/3 from last year). He's a mess. I'll be shocked if he's not on the DL by next week

I picked up Rubby this week and I backed up Greg with Koji but I am dead in the water with saves (15 ytd)

They also see Crow's future in the rotation, not at the back end of the pen. I'm sure that can change, but that's been the word locally from the beginning.

Possibly the last year of it they could be good, but the load they could have got for him last year or this year with good performance would have been a lot.

I have been watching Soria pitch the last few weeks and he is missing his location badly. Yes velocity down but he is unable to locate. Injury? Perhaps but I don't think so. Mechanical issue I believe. I picked up Crow last week and Coleman for $3 and $1 respectively after watching him. I agree with Gekko that he will get the job back. However I am dead last in saves so anything Crow can give me would be great.
I think Feliz is in real trouble. His velocity is there but he can't find the plate. I have more confidence in Soria to regain his form than I do Feliz. Something is not right with Neftali. The starter/closer experiment/ merry go round in Spring training not such a bright move in retrospect.

It seems like the Royals are on board with what Gekko stated as well.......
"I was told as soon as Jack gets back to the way he's been throwing in the past, he's going to go back to closing," Aaron Crow said. "Everybody's pulling for him and everybody wants him to get back to his old self, so I'm right there with everybody else, just pulling for him."

From what I heard on the Stern and Bowden radio show- Soria asked to be removed til he clears his head.
Btw, I have Marmol too- I am snake bit on closers. Look who I have and steer clear.

Well this probably disappoints a few Crow owners who got him on the cheap last week (from Rotoworld).......
"Royals manager Ned Yost said Joakim Soria is getting closer to reclaiming his closer role.
Well, that didn't take long. Soria was removed from the ninth-inning gig less than a week ago, but Yost has been impressed with the two scoreless outings he's throw since then. "He’s had three knockout innings … another one or two (good outings) and he’ll be ready to move back in," Yost said. "I’m not sure he’s not ready right now … but I want to give him (at least) one more." Aaron Crow has been the closer in name only while Soria works through his issues, as he's yet to see a save chance."

Soria lost zero save opportunities.
From rotoworld:
Joakim Soria looked like his old self on Monday evening, throwing two perfect innings to earn the win in Kansas City's 3-2, 11-inning victory against the Blue Jays.
The outing must have convinced Ned Yost of something, as Soria was re-anointed the Royals closer following the game. He notched just one strikeout tonight, but looked nothing like the closer that was so bad he lost his job a week ago. It's far too early to say Soria is "back," but he should not be unowned in any format.

Well stated. The players that you really need to beat don't buy into these deflective information posts during the free agent period. It is a game that a well known poster continues to play. It is upsetting to see this now happen from a player I met this season and found a level of respect ALSO go in this direction. Oh well, look like it backfired. When you post negative content before the deadline, then dive in for that exact player it sure looks like you were trying real hard to drive down a possible bid. But again, those in the know aren't going to be fooled. I'll never understand these posts.

Next time, why don't you try reaching out to that person you "respect" before making accusatory posts. Perhaps first finding out if you're interpreting the intent of the posts correctly might be the better way to go in the future, again out of "respect".
Just a suggestion, out of "respect".

Called it like I saw it. Your post came six hours before the FAAB deadline and then you went mucho bucks on the guy your post was intended to knock.
Speaks for itself and I held back until another person correctly called you on your actions.
Your post was for all to read, no need for me to take my feelings private. Try to understand for a minute how your post reads, especially after you buy the guy later in the day for 17% of your season FAAB budget.

Your post was for all to read, no need for me to take my feelings private. Try to understand for a minute how your post reads, especially after you buy the guy later in the day for 17% of your season FAAB budget. I completely understand how my post reads. Do you? Did you even read it? Did you read the entire thread and read the post in the context of the entire thread?
If you did, you'd know that the post was not my opinion but an exact word for word copy & paste from Rotoworld which I noted in the post. Yes, Rotoworld, the site noone else checks out on a FAAB Sunday. The opinions stated in the post were not mine, but those of the Royals manager, not that his opinion would mean more than mine to others planning their FAAB bids according to you  . What I posted was not something clandestine or devious or an opinion made to sway the opinions of others, it was a fact already posted on the most visited site in fantasy sports.
You question the timing of the post. Well if you checked, you would have seen that the timing sort of coincided with when the news came out. Again if you had checked, you'd see that my post was made only a half hour after the post was first made on Rotoworld. I guess I could have posted it earlier, but unfortunately it didn't exist earlier.
You question the amount of my bid after the post. Since when is 17% of a FAAB budget an extreme bid for a player currently holding the closer role, even if that hold is tenuous. If you had checked out our league's waiver history, you'd see that the last time a closer was available in our league, he went for $402, with a runnerup bid of $258. In fact, you yourself paid nearly half of what I paid for Crow, who still had the closer role, on Rubby De La Rosa just the week prior, a player who would have been a stretch to even be called the closer in waiting at the time. Closers go for premiums, I don't think what I paid was extreme. And if you would have asked me, you'd know that my bids during the week varied from under $100 to nearly $300 dependent upon the everchanging news reports coming out during the week. The news I was posting wasn't to affect anyone else's bid, it was affecting mine. I settled on the amount I settled on because I eventually decided the gamble was worth a decent bid, but the new risk made an all out bid no longer worth it.
You question my motives for the post. My motives were simple. Someone else started the thread, someone else steered the thread towards whether Soria would be returned to the closer role or not, and I posted news stories, not opinions, but news stories looking for feedback on what others thought about the situation. If you had read my blog post, posted several hours before you or Catch "called me on my actions" as you say, you would see that I was struggling with the news and how it should affect my bid throughout the week all the way up until the FAAB deadline. I post news stories all the time. I post them for players I am interested in that I'd like to see the feedback on. That is my sole motivation. Just a couple weeks earlier, I posted the negative news on Brian Roberts concussion diagnosis that it would affect him longer than originally thought. I'm pretty sure that also wasn't meant to affect FAAB.
Yet the news story I posted on Soria was made for more sinister reasons. Do you even know how many of my 13 NFBC & WCOFB teams that hold FAAB on Sunday even had Crow available in free agency? Exactly one, the league we share. Big surprise there that the issue you have with me is in a league we share. Did you even check to see how many of the 14 other owners in that league have closer needs that would allow them to make a competitive bid on Crow? I did, three likely, five tops. So for the one league I could have picked up Crow, I made a post for the three players who would make a challenging bid, in the hopes that they even visit the message boards, figuring they would be swayed by my post which only quoted what they already read on Rotoworld. Great detective work Sherlock. Yet last week, when I bid as much if not more on EY2 for not one, but several of my teams, I didn't make one negative post on his well known flaws. Yet last week, when I bid three times the amount on Oswalt, I didn't make one negative post on a player whose health & velocity was in question. Yet this week, when I made multiple bids on Javy Guerra, I not only didn't make one negatvie post on him, I posted how I believe he'd win the closer role. A positive post on someone I was bidding on for multiple teams? Hmmmm, I must have been saving all my deviousness for Aaron Crow. Again, great job Sherlock.
Worst of all Ken, you questioned my integrity. Don't for one second believe any fantasy league is worth more to me than that or even close. I've never had any problems with giving my honest assessment of a player or players to anyone I've met, spoke on the phone with, E-mailed, PM'd, or in my posts. Most who've dealt with me probably feel if anything I won't shut up with my thoughts (like here for instance ). I thought my track record spoke for itself. I guess for some, it doesn't. Fair enough.
But now it's my turn to call it like I see it. Somehow I feel if this didn't involve a league we share, you wouldn't see this the same way. In fact, considering that you bid as much as you did on De La Rosa last week, a bid on a closer in waiting whose no longer in consideration for the role, I'm pretty sure right now that you were probably the runnerup bid on Crow and this all stems from sour grapes on a lost bid. Right or wrong, it doesn't really matter, you can think what you want. I no longer give a sh*t, but do me a favor. Keep your patronizing, self righteous bullsh*t posts to yourself, at least in reference to me. Thanks.

Thanks.
