Lets Stop Switching Pitchers Midweek in 2012
I'll bring up this thread again, only becuse I can use it in a league this week in a way that hasn't been described here yet.
In one league, I have both Joe Nathan and Matt Capps. I overlooked that I still had Capps starting instead of Nathan.
With Minnesota already starting their game, I should be punished for being foolish enough to overlook the transgression.
With the loophole, I can start John Danks for Wednesday's game and still sneak in Nathan for the weekend series.

Since we're on the subject of rule changes... I would like to bid on pitchers that have not thrown yet, but are scheduled for the upcoming week.
David Huff is one this week and there have been others.
I know they haven't been up yet and wasn't drafted by folks making him ineligible.
But, there should be a way to make these kind of players eligible for bidding.
Just my take.

Just my take. That would be nice, but it feels like too much of a gray area. There is no official pitching schedule. Teams aren't obligated to submit them as far as I know. Gray areas like this can't be automated reliably. Gray areas ultimately get argued and rub people the wrong way. Doesn't seem worth it.

You're right, of course.
I was hoping somebody smarter than me could come up with a solution to make it a go.
It's too bad there is no official 'probables list' like there is an official disabled list.

I am writing this to encourage Greg to drop the pictcher's DL substitution all together in 2012. Why? Because we should be focused on having a good time instead.
Please keep it simple next year, Greg and put all the sting back in the DL where it belongs, not in misguided attempts to soften the blow.
If anybody agrees with me, please join in and help lobby Greg to drop pitcher DL substitutions in 2012. Lets focus on having fun instead instead of this stupid rule.

Agree totally. I don't have as much time as some (maybe many!) of the players of this great contest. I don't have time to look for little loopholes in the rules A guy going on the DL should hurt and it should punish the team who has a hurt pitcher. It rewards the teams who are skilled or lucky enough to draft the healthy pitchers.

Agree as well. Just make it simple by locking pitchers in for the week on Monday's. No pitching substitutions whatsoever.
Swapping batters out on Friday is fine.

I agree 100%; Drop the DL rule altogether.

I agree 100%. This is an obvious change that is needed.
