From Buster Olney- There have been 345 plate appearances vs Craig Kimbrel. Only two hitters have pulled the ball against him for extra base hits. Both doubles.
Seeing Jarrod Saltalamacchia carry on the Jorge Posada tradition of going to the mound every other pitch vs the Yankees had me rolling my eyes.
It made me think of Bob Gibson telling Tim McCarver to stay behind the plate because there was nothing he could say to help him.
I'd like to see a rule in baseball that limits catchers to one meeting an inning. A ball would be awarded for each meeting thereafter.
Fun with Dunn-
Dunn's season is historically bad. If he gets enough at bats this month, he'll replace Rob Deer for having the lowest batting average in baseball history (.179)
Some other DunnDums-
.204 was his highest average during a month.
He had two rbi in August.
He has three singles in 81 at bats (.037) vs lefties.
For those who blame the move to the A.L., he went three for 47 with no homers in interleague games.
When we see a Jose Reyes at bat, most likely, we will see a fair ball being struck.
In 479 plate appearances this year, Reyes has struck out just 31 times and only walked 30 times.
Alexi Casilla is not exactly fantasy gold.
But, he has 119 total bases.
More than Adam Dunn's 106.
More than teammate Joe Mauer's 96.
And more than other teammate Justin Morneau's 88.
Did he sell his soul?
Or, why do hitters look like David Soul against him?
Josh Collmenter has had nine starts this year where he has given up zero runs.
Only Cliff Lee with 10, has more.
'O' crap!
The pitchers giving up the most hits in the National League and American League both have names that end with 'O'.
Ricky Nolasco and Carl Pavano.
Billy Hamilton has stolen 95 bases at Dayton this year.
10 minor leaguers have stolen 100 bases in minor league history.
But, Billy Hamilton isn't even the first Billy Hamilton to steal 95 bases.
In five years during 1889-1895, Billy Hamilton led the Majors in steals with 111, 102, 111, 100, and 97 stolen bases.
Geez Jai!
Jai Miller is second in the Pacific Coast League in home runs, but don't be expecting to be bidding on him. He won't be called up. At least, I hope not.
Although the 31 homers look nice, Jai has struck out 173 times in just 106 games.
You can do the math.
What are they coming out to see?
Astros fans have arguably one of the worst teams in baseball to watch.
Despite that, they have outdrawn pennant contenders Arizona, Cleveland, and the White Sox.
Hit streaks are made for the media to talk about. Some announcers will even say "That is the second game in a row in which he has collected a hit."
Oooooh!
Dustin Pedroia had a 25 game hit streak earlier.
Alex Gordon, Mike Moustakas, and Jeff Francoeur all had streaks of more than 15 games.
To me, more impressive than Pedroia's.
The Royals hitters didn't get to face Royal pitching.
14 current players have played with just one team for at least 10 years.
I'll pause here
If
you'd
like
to come
up
with
your
guesses
Ok, here they are-
Chipper
Rivera
Jeter
Posada
Helton
Varitek
Rollins
Buehrle
M Young
Zambrano
Ichiro
Pujols
Cuddyer
and the name that most won't come up with....Brandon Inge.

I think you missed one on the list of players who have played for 10+ years with just one team: Brian Roberts has played 11 seasons with the Orioles, and "O"nly them...

Billy Hamilton is up to 103 SBs now. The kid is incredibly fast. Met him on 27 Aug when I threw out the first pitch at the game. He stole second and third in the same at-bat, after the pitcher threw to first 5 times. When he went to second, he was already sliding over the bag when the throw arrived...on a 91 mph pitch.

People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.
