Lindy Hinkelman Wins 2011 NFBC Main Event Title

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Sep 29, 2011 2:51 am

CONGRATS to Lindy Hinkelman of Greencreek, Idaho for winning the 2011 NFBC Main Event title and the $100,000 grand prize. This is Lindy's SECOND Main Event title in the last three years as he becomes the first fantasy player to ever win the same high-stakes national title more than once. Lindy is truly a special, special fantasy baseball player and he has proven it over the last few years. CONGRATS Lindy from all of us in the NFBC family.

This turned out to be the closest Main Event overall race in our eight-year history. Lindy beat KJ Duke by just 2.5 points for the $100,000 grand prize. KJ trailed by 18.5 points heading into this week and was able to trim the lead by five points on Monday and five points on Tuesday. He took six more points off the lead last night, but just couldn't quite catch Lindy. INCREDIBLE run KJ and congrats to you as well. You had an equally amazing season throughout all of our contests.

Lindy also finished second overall in the NFBC Auction Championship and has earned his stripes among the best NFBC owners in our short history. I think more accolades and awards will be coming his way this March in Las Vegas, where I'm sure he will return to defend his league and overall title. For now, let's just celebrate his accomplishments and wish him the best for an OUTSTANDING JOB. Congrats CHAMP!!!

I want to thank everyone for all the congratulations you have thrown my way. I was very fortunate to win this as I got about every break imaginable the last three days. KJ, you had a great team. Every time I saw Fister and Axford pitch I got ill. When I woke up this morning to check the final standing, I knew it would be close. A tie wouldn't have surprised me. My thanks go out to Greg for having the vision to start this fabulous hobby and for keeping it alive this past winter. Thanks again to all of you.
