Since it was asked of us, I'll chime in. One annoying little glitch that has come up since the option to swap out injured pitchers for the weekend was allowed has to do with choosing a pitcher to rotate in instead, putting him in, and later changing your mind to swap your sub for a different pitcher for any of various reasons that can arise prior to the start of the weekend games. Cannot be done since the sub does not have injured status, so you're stuck. There has to be someway to remedy this scenario.

I'd like to see a 10th P slot added to starting lineups in all leagues. I also think it wouldn't be a bad idea to have it break down as 8 P's and 2 RP.

A lot of problems with the sp and rp designations. What if I drafted Ogando as a starter and he sets up? What about swing men, starter or reliever?

What if a pitcher starts the year as one and changes to the other.

I can't get behind limiting pitchers with designations.

Any thoughts on a 10th active P slot free and clear of designations?

[/QUOTE]Agree - either have an innings minimum (and maximum, if desired) or designate SP/RP but not both and since the latter can result in owners gaming the system, the former is preferred.

The one rule change I would like considered has been mentioned already and that is to have the available player pool be consistent for every league, regardless if the player was drafted and dropped in some leagues.

That said, there would need to be discussion with respect to who is available as a free agent.

Only players on the 25 man roster?

Only players that were on the 25 man roster at some point of the season?

Only players on the 40 man roster?

Anyone who has appeared in a minor League game?

I'd prefer 25 man roster at some point in the season. If a minor leaguer is drafted and dropped before he is promoted, my preference would be that he is not available to be picked up in that league.

my second preference would be anyone on the 40 man roster so everyone has a shot at the "hot" minor leaguer.

That said, I think the next "major" global rules adoption (other than perhaps more leagues switching to OBP) is the addition of a 24th roster spot that can be filled by either a hitter or a pitcher. Many private leagues already do this.

I am glad to see Dan and Todd weigh in on my suggestion, because I think it's worthy since a 10 man staff has been used elsewhere - so there are those out there who can comment on it's benefits and faults.

My reasoning for having 2 RP designations would be to make it harder for teams to toss Closers back into the free agent pool late in the year. This usually happens in late July/early August when some team decides to punt saves and chase other categories. One or two teams in these leagues will benefit by scooping up saves for a late season push that can have major impact on league and overall races. If you are forced to start two RP - I think these owners will be less inclined to use this strategy.

I will admit that I didn't think about the implications beyond this scenario.

As for the 10th spot - I am not advocating increasing overall roster size - just adding an extra active slot to play with. I actually prefer Todd's idea - because I think that would be a lot of fun to play with.

I think that Mango gelato should be the dessert served at the Bellagio for all live drafts. Make it a rule... where's Chris Schinker to second that!

Woooooooooooooo!
