I Believe.....

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Tue Oct 11, 2011 4:55 am

Politicians are seldom wrong when giving speeches. The wording is created for wiggle room.

In the spirit of politicians speaking in not what they will do, but rather what they believe...

Here are my 'I believe that's'

I believe that Austin Jackson only leads off for Detroit because he is their fastest player...

I believe that Tony LaRussa should be a spokesman for Grecian Formula...

I believe that Philadelphia lost out on their best chance to win a World Series...

I believe that Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau will never hit 20 homers again....

I believe that Danny Espinoza will be a bust next season and will not be starting a lot of games in the second half of that season....

I believe that Those that thought the Royals kids would make 2012 their year, are wrong....

I believethat Bruce Chen has paid his dues with the Royals, and will sign elsewhere...

I believe that Eric Hosmer is for real and will have a Todd Helton type career...

I believe that Helton took PED's to have a Todd Helton type career...

I believe that Michael Young epitomizes the words, 'Most Valuable Player'....

I believe that The Rangers will win the World Series...

I believe that Atlanta, Colorado, and Cincinnati would be better off with new Managers...

I believe that Pirate fans will remember being in a pennant race, and not that they ended the season just one game in front of the hapless Cubs...

I believe that I too, am hapless. I've never had a hap.

And still don't know how to answer the question, 'What's the haps?'....

I believe that Indians fans will remember they were in a pennant race and not that they finished 15 games back, and under .500....

I believe that I would pay for a Omaha Storm Chasers game way before a Houston Astros ticket.

I believe that Strasburg's limits will pisss off owners to no end next year...

I believe that Carl Crawford never has and never will look good in a Red Sox uniform...

I believe that With Francona gone, Tim Wakefield will be as well....

I believe that Brian Wilson has made more money with his beard than Lincoln and his beard spent on the Civil War....

I believe that Brian Wilson's, 'Don't Worry, Baby' still holds up....

I believe that Emory will either finish first in the PreMature draft or last.

His first five picks are:

Ellsbury

Ry Howard

Crawford

Ar Ramirez

Mauer......

I believe that If he could stay healthy for a full year, Nelson Cruz would have Bautista-type numbers...

I believe that Bautista is done with Bautista-type numbers....

I believe that David Ortiz and Jonathon Papelbon come away from free agency shaking their heads.....

I believe that the Mike Napoli trade(s) was the last straw that lost a GM his job.

And, will be a big factor in the Rangers winning the World Series....

I believe that If Carlos Zambrano signs with the Miami Marlins, ESPN will station two reporters in their clubhouse and only one on the field....

I believe that if I were the Yankees, I would make it my mission to somehow, someway, get Felix Hernandez from the Mariners....

I believe that Jesus Montero may be a Mariner next year....

I believe that Montero's fantasy worth may take a big hit next year....

I believe that I am done....

Where to begin? :D

If you thought my first five picks were bad, you should see my last five.

Goldschmidt (Howard make-up)

Dan Hudson

Neftali Feliz

Dee Gordon

Ryan Madson

Mostly I crashed.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

My daughter.

I believe it is short for what is happening?

But, like 'how are you', it is more of a greeting than an actual question.

I actually like the expression. If I didn't, I'd answer with how my fantasy baseball team is doing. A sure way to get people to never ask, 'How are you doing?'

So, the Cubs are hapless, the Cardinals hapful or hapfull.

I'm good with that.

My spellchecker isn't but I am.

By the way, my spellchecker is good with spellchecker being one word.

Homer.

I believe that Montero's fantasy worth may take a big hit next year.... Dough - you have hit on the situation I find the most interesting heading into the Hot Stove Season!

With CC rumored to be ready to opt out of his contract for something that is both more money and more years, you have to think the Yankee's brass will look to get a lot more creative than just shelling out a boat load of money for another aging superstar. I mean according to CBSSportsline, CC is a 6-7 290lb 31 Years old. Nothing screams DO NOT give this man a 8 year $200 Million Deal like those stats!

The Yankee's have hid their love for King Felix like the Red Sox hid their love for AGon and if the true "Mr. Steinbrenner" was still around, Felix would already have a year or two in Pin Stripes under his belt!

Jesus Montero can hit to be sure, but can he catch in the Majors, let alone the AL East vs. teams like the Rays and Red Sox who will run all day long? Somebody else can be sucked into finding the answer to this question!

I am not sure how this situation will all work out, but I have a feeling you will see the names CC Sabathia, Felix Hernandez, and Jesus Montero in the same articles more than once this winter! Its gonna be fun to watch!

I don't know....Montero looks about as much like a natural middle-of-the-order slugger as I've seen emerge in the last few years. Trading him away would be devastating to a team with aging position players.

King Felix is a talented pitcher but there is a huge difference between pitching in SAFECO against the A's and Yankee Stadium against the AL East.

The Red Sox need pitching just as badly as the Yankees, as became apparent in September. Any topline pitcher will attract alot of interest.

Agree with everything you said Raskol, but the old rule that a Prospect is Simply a Suspect until he proves himself still rings true in my book. Montero could become the next Mike Piazza, but the chances are he won't. King Felix is young, proven, and affordable under his current contract. The Yankee's would be smart to give up a Kings Ransom (pun intended) to get him if he became available!
