Had he been there I would have went with Walter Johnson as well.

I also have his 1913 season rated higher as well so I agree with going with that season over the 1912 season.

I only ask this for my own edification and not anything to do with the current draft.

The 'save' was applied in 1960 by 'Sporting News' writer, Jerome Holtzman. The Sporting News had a 'fireman of the year' relief award with it until baseball officially adopted it in 1969 as a statistic.

My question is- Did Elias or somebody else go back through history and award these pitchers saves?

It's the only way I can think of for them to have them as part of their achievments.

Anybody know for sure?

Anybody know for sure? [/QB]My guess would be RetroSheet. But I don't know that as fact.

Great pick. What is interesting about the selection is whether WJ's 1913 was his best fantasy season or 1912. The extra 60Ks from 1912 vs. the 3 wins with slightly better %'s. Tough call. It will be interesting to see how that decision plays out in the end. if my information is correct, hr and k's will be the tightest battles. me thinks the xtra 60 k's will be worth more

So devout, he refused to pitch on Sunday's.

Ok with the Giants, there were few Sunday games scheduled.

His pitching duels with Mordecai 'Three Fingers' Brown were legendary.

Three complete game shutouts in the '05 World Series. Incredible, even for the dead ball era.
