But, there is a reason I did not give them a heads up what was going until after we started
FWIW, I did post the link to these proceedings there this morning.

When planning for my next pick there where 3 players that I was hoping may be there. Two hitters and a pitcher. The pitcher went right after I picked in the second round and that was Joe Wood and one of the hitter went with the first pick in third round and that was Hank Greenberg. I also would have used Hank Greenberg's 1937 year with the higher average and rbi over the homers.
Leaving me with one of the hitters left.
Ted Williams 1949
.343 average / 43 HR / 150 R / 159 RBI / 1 Steal
He was the last player left that had a season with over a .340 average, 40 HR, and over 150 in both runs and rbi. He was actually the only player left that had a season with over 150 in both runs and rbi and that was the main reason I made the pick.
I had to consider his 1941 season as well and I can see with the .406 average why people would have taken that year but I just thought that the other numbers that he put up that year where just to low justify picking that year.

As crazy as the Eckersley season was the Gagne season is right there with it. It is another one of those seasons that I remember him being great that year but did not realize how great.
The 55 saves with a 1.20 era and a whip right with Eckersley at .692. Then you throw in the fact that he struck out a amazing 137 guys in only 82.1 innings and it is very debatable that his season may have been better. They are both amazing years for closers though and clearly the top 2 seasons for closers in baseball history.

No John Lackey to kick around in 2012.
He is headed for Tommy John surgery.

I was throwing balls left handed and righted handed and there was a guy named Larry Baker watching me bowl. He couldn't figure out what I was doing after I started throwing the bowl with no thumb hole. I'd like to bowl there again when I had more time.

Shawn,
Larry Baker was almost on my team this year, but he had to back out and bowls sometimes as a sub in the league. It's funny you saw someone from my league on a random day at the lanes.
My game is primarily inside, as I only play outside when I have to. Pretty impressive you can bowl lefty and righty - it must be an edge for leagues/tournaments if you have a average with each.

Figured we would be seeing Ted William's name picked soon. Other than Ruth - in my opinion the greatest hitter ever. Miliary service cost him 5 years of time, think how much better the career numbers would have been.

i do have to admit that while the superstars being selected aren't a surprise, for a couple of them, the year is a surprise. interesting how differently each of us interpret the stats...

The coverage of him is my favorite part of the Ken Burns documentary... makes me wish I'd grown up in that era. Loved his dedication to the craft and the stories of him swinging an imaginary bat in the outfield. And of course the last day of the 41 season.... which I'm sure Jose Reyes also appreciated.

I now own both DiMaggio and Ted Williams who as you said both missed prime years of their career to serve our country. It would be incredible to see what there stats would have been had they never missed those seasons.
I also own Mathewson who also served our country and as stated before was infected by that mustard gas. I wonder if I can add another Military player in the 4th round.

It's a long list with quite a few notable names, as one would expect of "The Greatest Generation". Over 100+ men that played in the minor leagues died during battle in WWII.
Two men that played in the Major Leagues also died serving our country.

Agreed. Not targeting Glenn in any way. Just an overall frustration as this draft has been very slow in general. Gekko, I'm thrilled you're on the end because you're a fast drafter and won't hold me up!
