I would like to offer you a cut of my winnings :D when this is done, but it will go directly into the Main Event. And since I've never collected there, looks like your out of luck ;)

Alphabetically at the end of the round, I will release the players names that have been chosen.

Sorry guys.

SWAMPED at work today and just getting a chance to read through these messages.

Will scratch the names off, scroll through my (pitchers) list and post in the next hour or so.

Also, I think the definition of "collusion" involves an agreement between 2 or more people to defraud or obtain something illegally. "Agreement" and "2 or more" being the operative word/phrase... Not to be disagreeable, just thought I'd make that distinction... maybe this is why I'm so popular at parties!!!

While we wait…………….

Of the players chosen to this point, I think Steve Carlton had one of the ugliest ends to his career that I can remember. I remember him playing out the string with CHI and MIN, but I forgot that he also worked SF and CLE in there.

Over his last three seasons, he was 15-29 with a 5.72 era.

Thanks Russ, spend all your money on next year's draft. You're one of the guys I continually root for.

I'll be out some tonight.

Don't fret if it's awhile, I'll be here all day tomorrow and we should be able to complete the blind round by Friday night if we're timely.

That's quite enough of that thank you very little The Indians card looks like he's waiting for a new ball (after serving one up!)

Carlton was notorious for not speaking w/ the media...always wondered why he hung around so (too) long. It doesn't matter, he's still one of THE best lefthanders ever to throw a baseball.
Always be closing.

Not to be disagreeable, just thought I'd make that distinction... maybe this is why I'm so popular at parties!!! I play a lot of poker and in that game there are many different forms of collusion. One of the most common is called softplaying, where you play your hand in a different, more passive way then you normally would against someone you are friendly with. While the other person may be unaware of and uninvolved in what you are doing, its still considered collusion. Perhaps cheating is a more accurate word but it amounts to the same thing. In the case of this draft any favoritism shown would be improper, regardless of the name we use to describe it.

Eddie Cicotte is the guy that they where able to convince to throw the World Series during the Black Sox Scandal. I believe that Cicotte was the key piece in the players involved being able to throw the World Series. They obviously where able to convince him and the rest is history.

[/QUOTE]Oh! No argument here. He is one of the three or four best lefties ever to pitch. He was solid throughout his career, and the 3 year run he put together from 1980-82 was awesome.

Some Carlton Stuff®

When you win 329 games, you’re bound to have a winning record against most teams. He did his most damage against the Cubs (41-20), Pirates (39-25), and the team that traded him away for Rick Wise ( St Louis 38-14)

222 players hit home runs off Lefty, three of the top four were catchers. J Bench (12), Gary Carter (11), and Ted Simmons (7). The other guy in that list was Dave Kingman with 8.

He gave up the last two of his 414 dingers back-to-back. Joe Carter and Brook Jacoby both took Carlton deep in the first inning of a 10-2 Cleveland victory over the Twins.

It was the 244th and last lose of his career. It was also the last game he ever pitched. Five days later on April 28,1988 Minnesota released him.
