Everyone send a few players into Doughy when it gets near your turn, and we'll fly through this blind round just like the last one!

While we're waiting Dan, why don't you help us fill the time by announcing who was already picked?

Tues AM is the worst time that the blind pick could get to me. My pick is in with Dan now.

No, I can't do that, but I can tell you something that I discovered this weekend.

Lou Gehrig signed his first Major League contract for the yearly sum of $2,000 with a $1,500 bonus in 1923.

In 1934, Babe Ruth signed to do 13 weeks of radio shows sponsored by Quaker Oats.

He received $39,000 for the shows.

By this time, Ruth was nearing the end of his playing career.

That money was $4,000 more than what Ruth made playing baseball that year.

By the way fellas, do not send me a name early in the round and ask if he is still available.

I won't respond till it is your turn.

I'm out for 2 hours.

The last four teams should be sending a list with at least 4 names while gone.

I'll be getting back with them when I get back and post the players names then.

Thanks!

Krause joined the Philadelphia Athletics in 1908 and pitched in 4 games. The next season, his true rookie year, Krause won 18 games and led the American League in era with 1.39. They didn’t have the ROY Award then, but I would bet that Krause would have been a front runner.

However, as a major leaguer, that was about it for Krause. He did pitch for three more seasons with the Athletics and the Naps, but he won just 17 more games.

His career numbers of 36-26 with a 2.50 era  are the kind of numbers that make 1908 Ed Walsh spin over knowing that they are both in the same All-time draft.

Oh, and one last but best thing about Krause. Before joining the Athletics in 1908, he won 24 games in the minor leagues. After being released by the Naps in 1912 he went back to the minors where he pitched for another 18 seasons during which time he won an additional 276 games.

Harry Krause was a 300 game winner in the minor leagues. Take that Mr. 1908 Ed Walsh. :D

Harry Krause died in a car accident in 1940.
