I've sent my picks in, as long as teams 2-4 have, we should be seeing the unveiling of the second blind list upon his return!

[/QUOTE]Fellas, I am at #3, and have been swamped the past two days at work and home. This is the first chance I have even had to look on the MB since I made my Round 9 pick. Thankfully, it has not gotten to me. But to set everyone's expectation, I probably will not have a list to Dan until later this evening. I won't even have a chance to review who has been picked from the round 9 until 8:00 this evening. My apologies, and I appreciate your understanding.

Somebody took Austin Jackson in our draft. I put this stat out to illustrate how much baseball has changed over the last 46 years....
In 1965, one player (Richie Allen) had as many as 150 strike outs. He had 150 on the button.
28 players, struck out over 100 times.
IN 2011, 16 players had at least 150 strike outs. 78 players struck out at least 100 times.
My perception is two things.
One, there is still a little fall out from the steroid era. Swings are harder to compensate.
Two, the game has changed. Teams hit and run a lot less and depend on the long ball a lot more.
Whatever the reason, pitchers are digging it.

2011 AL ERA 4.08 : K/9=6.9
They may be striking out more hitters, especially when you factor in the DH, but I'm not sure that they really feel good about it.

Interesting Russ, do you have both leagues numbers?
This would tend to defend the long ball game over the shorter game.

The numbers would suggest that the NL teams are swinging for the fence more (more K's), but they are hitting less HR's and scoring less [relative to AL increases], of course the fact that the pitchers bat in the NL must be taken into account

Then again, that's just picking out those two years randomly, the numbers might look MUCH different if we used 1968 and 2001
