Maybe not the sexiest direction to go in with our two picks here, but it is what it is. Though our strategy may not end up providing the pitching points that we need to win this thing, we still have to stick with it through to the end.

Well, Ryan's made my choice easier. It's kind of amazing how often we've taken one of the other's considerations. We seem to be of the same mindset in this draft. Of course, we're both holding up the rest of the league in the standings, so it's too bad I wasn't of a similar mindset to Steve or Shawn.
As I sat waiting for my pick, I had already made the decision to go reliever. With closers starting to go fast and furious and with my squad sitting with only one (visible) closer, I felt I had no choice. The question was which.
I had decided it was to be between two closers, both with 26 saves, but that's where the similarities ended. One would be a great benefit in the wins category as well as help out in K's, the other would be much more beneficial to my ratios. Until Ryan made his choice, I had yet to decide. By taking Lindy McDaniel, Ryan made my decision for me by leaving me only one of my original two choices. That choice.....
Andrew Bailey 2009
SV - 26
W - 6
ERA - 1.84
WHIP - 0.87
K - 91
IP - 83.1

Yeah the Bailey year was one of two other relief pitchers years I was considering as well. Now I think that makes 6 times where we have either taken the others pick or taken one of like two guys we where considering.

Since we are getting close....
I don't want to open up another can of worms and initiate a long discussion, but I have a suggestion as to how we can announce the winner. Dan, Shawn and I have cyber-talked about this a little.
My idea revolves around the fact that at least most, hopefully all of us would like the time between the 23rd blind and the winner to be as short as possible, so there is a good chance we can all gather in one place. I have a chat room that also allows private chats so we can all hang out while Dan gets the blinds privately.
After my blind, Dan sends me the players and years BUT NOT THE OWNER through my blind and I add those to the tracker, without the owner. He then sends me the final 7 blinds and I complete the sheet.
We move over to this forum, likely a fresh thread.
We now have two options.
1. I send Dan the sheet and he fills in the team numbers, the standings automatically generate and Dan puts on a little show, publicly announcing the results from 15 to 1.
2. I upload the tracker to the server and anyone that wants to download it can. Dan then reveals the blinds, round by round. He will do round 5 first, all 15 teams at once, those so inclined can fill them in. I will post the standings. We then do rounds 10 and 16 in this manner. For the grand finale, Dan reveals the rounds 23 blinds one team at a time.
I suppose there is a third and that is Dan sends me all the info and I put on the show, which as it appears I will not be announcing myself, but still, there is no reason i should know first

Option 2 is a no brainer. I want to see the rounds revealed one by one - NOT all at once.

I second Neveda and agree that option 2 is the best one

Comments? Let's name the chat room the Titanic and maybe we can have some visual of chairs being shuffled around with Shawn behind the wheel.
Love the idea Todd!

If we're all together here, why not just let each guy announce his pick in order and allow some bio/selection thought process/explanation of strategy as we go? We've spent a few weeks on this so why have a big rush to the end? We all know who we picked and why, so it should go quickly and make for a more fun experience than just posting the entire round at once with no commentary. JMHO.
And yes, I KNOW it's my turn and I'll make my selection shortly.

I like option 2 as well, with a small adjustment. I liked your idea of a 15-1 countdown and I think after the blind rounds are all announced a countdown could be fun. Of course some teams could quickly figure it out for themselves and that's fine but I for one would enjoy the standings being revealed one at a time.
