A NEW all time draft with a couple of changes?
I'll check back here every so often to see if we are getting close to the 15 teams. Thoughts on this draft:
1) Who would be the banker for the money, the NFBC?
2) I would vote against 3RR, given the results of the recently completed draft.
3) Does everyone else agree with 1941 as the starting point?

2) My vote would also be against 3RR
3) 1941 is fine with me as the starting point
We can openly bash each others picks instead of just arguing privately . I think it's important to discuss the format we should use for this draft before people start sending money. I wish we didn't need blind rounds at all, however it seems to be necessary in this type of draft. Having a blind round 23 seems a given to me. Other than that we could probably get by with one or two others. There are a couple other things to discuss beforehand but for now the blind rounds need to be hashed out.

Count me in- I am in favor of a more recent start date other than 1941 but whatever the majority decides is fine with me.

if u actually believe what you posted...if u get a top 2 or 3 pick and i get something worse, let's trade. i'll even give you a $25 switching fee.
the teams upfront still hold an advantage even if we start in 1941.

1. someone needs to take charge of this league and decide on the rules or else we could lose people who are about to begin their prep for actual nfbc slow drafts
2. someone needs to keep track of all the picks and post standings, etc. i doubt anyone could do it as well as zola did last time around. i could do it, but it would be very rudimentary.

There really was no advantage to draft slot during the first draft if you look at the final standings.
I think football tends to be much more top heavy in the first few picks and so that's why it is used there and not in baseball.
Unless you drafted in the middle.
5-6-8-9 produced the guys who finished 12-13-14-15
I'm a sucker for this stuff, so I'll try again if there are still open spots.

A NEW all time draft with a couple of changes?
Guys I am 100 percent in as I said before, let me know when we are starting it up and the rules and how we will do payment and so on. I am down to do it with any rules or years, I just found the last one to be fun, something to do to kill time before real drafts start. So count me in.

Alright guys I am sorry if I missed anyone but I count that we are at 12:
Ken Gill
Glenn Lowry
Don Mathis
Gekko
Like What 17
Gamblor
Rock It Sauce
Lawrence Liebman
Texas Connection
Gyoztes (Sam Botnick)
The Fool On The Hill
Suburban Strugglers (Me Ryan Kelly)
If there is anyone else update my list, otherwise I guess we will take the next three people that post that they want in, if that is cool with everyone.

The one suggestion I would have is that if we do this starting with a more recent year like 1920 or 1941 that we do not do third round reversal. If we started with the dead ball era again I would like to see it but if not I do not see the need for it.
The one other thing is that we have a 5 starter and 2 relief pitcher minimum with two wild card pitching slot.
I also would be for having the entry fee be 125 and pay out in cash and not entries into the main even although I believe that is what you all want this time anyways.
However I am good anyway you guys want to do it, just making my couple of suggestions.
It looks like Like What said he will handle the spread sheet so we are almost there.

I volunteered earlier to do the spreadsheet, id have no problem keeping that up
I will do any time frame the group decides, with 1941 seeming like the leader currently

I think in the case of the 3RR there would need to be some evidence to support such a change. Even though the sample size was nonexistent I wouldn't have minded a change if the first draft had showed an advantage to picks 1-5. It didn't happen though so I see no reason to switch things up. I will restate that these blind rounds need to be discussed. For me, less is more.
Additionally, I dont know how I feel about participating on my own in this draft. Since I was partners with Dave last time I was using a ranking system he devised. I wouldn't feel right about competing using another drafters hard work to my advantage. Also, I'd like to give others an opportunity to play. If Dave will have me I'd like to partner with him again, if not then I think I will sit this one out and give someone else a chance.

It looks like Like What said he will handle the spread sheet so we are almost there. I like the 5 starter/ 2 reliever requirement- it still gives you two guys to choose sp/rp. A 1500 IP requirement would be good too. We need to define the RP/SP definitions. With the last draft we used minimum 30 games in relief for RP, I think that worked fine. Maybe a minimum of 20 starts for a starter?

Or maybe 150+ Innings instead of 20 starts? (See Roger Nelson 1972 and Bob Bolin 1968). Just thinking out loud. Of course those guys could be picked using one of the two "swing" pitcher spots.

Well if Gamblor is out we are down to 11 and still need 4 more owners to participate. I think once we get four more people we should just vote on the rule changes and go with the majority in terms of things like 3RR and SP to RP and inning rules.
Also I think we should start in 1940, I did not really understand why we would start in 1941 over 1940 unless I am missing something.

Original ALL TIME DRAFT rules apply unless changed here The only thing I would like is to have as I posted before a starting pitcher requirement as well. 5 starters 2 relief and 2 wildcard spots.
Also on the winner take all prize money. I think that is something we would need to discuss. I do not care either way but others might.

I'd be more inclined to still reward 2nd place at least for their hard work. With the likely standings being so close again, Id like to see second place get something. Maybe something similar to the first where it's $1300 for first and $450 for second?
I think the other issue that some people wanted to see changed and that should be clarified and voted on is whether or not we want this to turn into another punting contest. Gekko's suggestion to require the winner to have at least a 2 in every category is one potential way around this, not sure how everyone feels about it though.
I'm good with any start time, whether it be 1940, 1941 or any other time.
I'm anxious to get this going again to avenge my disappointing finish in the first go round. For those of you sitting on the fence, what are you waiting for, there's only 4 spots left!!!

I think once we get are 15 we should vote on all the rules. Vote on the 3RR, the pitching requirements, start year, payouts and the dumping category rules and see what we get. I mean if it is like 13 to 2 on most of them we will just do that is we are split on some things or close we will have to come to a consensus.
We need to get 4 more people first though.

Instead of moving back to 1940, I'd be more in favor of moving our starting year forward to any of these years---
1946 (end of the WWII)
1947 (Jackie Robinson breaks color barrier)
1950 (nice round number)
1960 (another nice round number)
1961 (first expansion year)
50+ years of guys to choose from is plenty, and I'm sure at least a few guys (besides me) have already deleted the 1940 stats....

Again, I'm open to any year, whatever the group decides. I think any of those numbers could work well and keep things fresh.
And yes Brad, I have also removed 1940 from my lists already
