New Thread for either the player you are most frustrated with this year, managerial blunder, or a particular situation in 1 game,

For me the players that frustrate me are Dye and Blake

Managerial blunder 2 bidding way too much on Herges and this week benching Young Tx back spasms adding Punto for a $1 then seeing Young play not well as of yet and Punto hurt

Situational frustration Last night had Beckett get a win with average outing the had Capuano and Loiazza against each other both pitched great games no decisions for each and to rub salt on the pitching wound could not get either win or save from Cordero in same game

Oh well

My big frustration is lack of wins from my starting pitching. The five (Eaton, Capuano, Lowe, Millwood, and Bush) that I have used the most (four have been in the entire season) have YTD combined stats of:

250.0 IP, 40 GS, 246 H, 68 BB, 97 ER.

This generates 180 K's, 3.492 ERA, and a 1.256 WHIP.

Not bad for starting pitching considering I have only had Pineiro and Escobar for 6 starts.

What kills me are wins. From those stats I only have 13 wins to go with 13 losses and 14 no-decisions.

Managerial gaff - Renteria 2nd round, 17th pick and Herges from FA.

Oh, yes. Situational frustration, MLB managers leaving my starters in for the 7th, 8th, or 9th inning after they have reached 100+ pitches like yesterday with Eaton. Big lead, 100+ pitches, and he gets one out in the 7th, but allows a run and three base runners. Doooh!

It's a toss up between J. Thompson who twice in a span of one week could not finish the 5th inning with the lead or Jeff Weaver. Weaver has got to be the dumbest pitcher whom has good stuff. The guy is Cy Young (slight exaggertaion) for 80/90% of the game then just IMPLODES! It's painful watching him pitch...he just looks like he'd rather be smoking a doobie at an Alice & Chains concert.

V. Wells and E.Chavez are also on the list, but I think they will come around.

I will just say " Jim Thome, Magglio Ordonez, Joe Borowski and Sammy Sosa". They might as well be touring in a barbershop quartet for as much good as they are doing me.

My problem is the zig-zag... Like Womack last week. I got tired of nothing from him since the 1st week and benched him. What does he do? Steal 8 bases...

If major leaguers were smart, they would pay me to bench them. Then they would go out and have career-level outings. Like Chris Young, and many many others...

I'm in the same boat as Ed Kings. Last week I had a 2.70 ERA in ten starts. How many wins did I earn? 2. And I think my closer got one of them. Despite that, I came in 4th place out of all 300 for the week. I'd have won for sure with just one more win.

That is an inherent weakness in my team though. I've always gone with the idea that if you have a great ERA, you're going to get at least a good # of wins. There is certainly some validity to it (as it has always worked for me before), but not when taken to the extreme. I walked away from the draft with pretty much all Brewers and Nationals pitchers and I guess I started to realize something would give. Still, in my league, I'm last in wins and second in ERA (with 6 starters). I don't see them staying that far apart forever. It'd be some kind of record.

Speaking of poor planning, who picks up Kerry Wood and then gets frustrated about his health? I mean, why did you think you were getting him in the ninth round--because everyone forgot about him? It's a gamble. You hope for the best, but you should be prepared for the worst. Next off season I'm going to have to hear about the bad luck with injuries again. I won't complain about everyone, but you know that Griffey/Wood/Sweeney owner is in there feigning surprise.
Chance favors the prepared mind.

mine would have to be Oliver Perez, my first pitcher taken in the 4th round and the least productive so far out of all of them. He has cost me so far a chance at the top 30, lets see if the time off did him any good

Try

1. Curt Schilling

2. Nomar

3. Sean Green

4. Richard Hidalgo

5. Preston Wilson

6. Aaron Boone

All with the preseason potential to have outstanding years and all total flops.

lol. Was doing well in my other league until trading D Willis and M Bradley for V Guerrero this week. Now he crushed his shoulder before I could ever get him in my lineup. When does football start?

all of you forgot to mention danny graves -- he's not a top closer, but a 3.6era and 1.3whip weren't unreasonable, were they? he's got double that right now!!

I'll hand the frustration award to 5 of my first 11 picks. Mind you, several of them were picked by me way too early; but they are stinking up the joint none-the-less:

Round 2 - Renteria

Round 3 - Chavez

Round 6 - Hafner

Round 8 - Kolb (hey, there was a huge closer run)

Round 11 - Finley

Not much else to say other than at least I'm 10th overall this week and at least Carlos Lee is starting to hit.

Pete
OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

Pete, you can't kill yourself over taking Eric Chavez in the 3rd round, or Hafner in the 6th, and even Finley in the 11th. I don't think there's too many people who thought they would have started this slowly. Renteria, I was down on this year, and Kolb, I never trusted, but you just got off to a rough start. If I keep freefalling like I have the last two weeks, you'll be passing another team pretty soon :D :(

The DL bug is really hurting me right now. I have Rolen (an injury they say is unrelated to previous shoulder problems), Vidro (high ankle sprain from hell), Dotel (Pardon me sir, have you seen my slider?), and now Millwood (muscle pull...conditioning...muscle pull...conditioning...gee, I just can't make up my mind what I want to do!).

I have adequate back-ups at 3rd and 2nd (Alfonzo and Belliard), and I have commented too much already on Mr. Herges, but I was really hoping to lock down six solid (or at least with good upside) starters with Escobar coming back and Pineiro working his issues out.

Oh, well, youze play the games and youze takes your chances.
