Position Eligibility Lists - Slight Problem
STATS has changed the link but there are problems.
1. The lists imply that each position only shows those players with 20+ games but even their own data clearly shows every player who played at least one game at the position. I can handle the extras in my spreadsheet but it is confusing.
2. A bigger issue is in Outfield where they do not indicate games played. There is no way to determine if a player had 20+ games in the outfield.
I have a list using the USAToday games played link but really want to create an "official" NFBC list.
We are getting there.

I looked there but can't find a true list. Your league $$$ projections have people in positions but I don't think that this can be it. For example, it shows Marte as a 3B but he only played 17 games there last year. He had a total of 24 games played as a Brave but just 17 at 3B - according to USAToday. Maybe he is some type of exception but I don't recall him being mentioned in any posts - like Bonds. I hate to be picky but this about the only area that isn't subject to changes down the road due to injuries, etc. so I would like to get it finalized now.

this shouldn't be as difficult as it is.

If he didnt play 20 at one position then his position is determined by the most games at one spot he did play .

Q EXCEPTION: if the player appeared in more games as a pinch hitter than any position, and did not play 20 or more games at a single position, he can only qualify as a utility player. See for example Prince Fielder for this year's contest and Ramon Castro for 2004's event. See, Greg? I finally got the rule down!
These two points should be listed on rules page, if they are not already.

I concede defeated but happen to agree with GG - this should be a bit easier. Definitely, the NFBC link supplied by STATS is a bit dangerous to go by as they have players in position with 1 and 2 games.
Is it safe to say that all positions given for players on the $$$ projections of the maagazine are good to go for the NFBC events??

He has a minor injury - he DH's 1st 5gms, heals up starts at SS for 3 then gets called up. According to the rules he's only eligible for UTIL spot (until he plays 10gm for TB at SS of course). I see Greg's point in letting 06 determine position elig but I hate having minor league players up in the air like that. When you draft him you think you're getting a SS. But that may not be the case.

for us satellite leaguers - does the player DB at mockdraftcentral match the position eligibility lists from the NFBC exactly?
Position Eligibility Lists - Slight Problem
no it does not
an example is the late fantasy reserve player, Jose Lopez of Seattle. He qualifies only as a 2B - 51 of 54 games played in 2005 so no funny exceptions. However, MDC has him as both a 2b & SS. I have him on my bench in the NFBC Magazine League and I see he is both 2B & SS qualified. Greg's magazine correctly has him as only a 2B. If there is one difference, I tend to think there are others.

it would be good to get an official word about this. I can see someone being drafted at the wrong position causing a mess.

It's your job to fill a valid roster.
Our stickers on Draft Day don't match exactly either. We don't have NFBC stickers and mock draft sites....YET.

[/QUOTE]I noticed your earlier question after Greg posted. Another great thing about Greg: he actually READS all of the posts, instead of just skimming them.
I'm glad you got your answer. From what I understand, we will also be getting a list prior to draft day with every player eligible to be picked. That will CERTAINLY eliminate any questions...

What didn't you find there? All of the eligibility on the site is the same as it will be in the NFFC. Let me know what problems you're having and I'll be glad to help if I can.
