Thanks Glenn - I know that, but you are ignoring (to some degree) the part about minor leaguers called up. Certainly Morales was a minor leaguer at the beginning of 2007. Callaspo may be harder to define - Greg will chime in - as at the start of the 2007 season, he was on the restricted list for some off the field problems, so was his minor league status from the year before carried over? I don't think the Diamondbacks restricted list has anything to do with MLB status, so you could easily make the case he was a minor leaguer disciplined by his own club.

I guess that's where the "unless otherwise designated" part comes in. If they're not on any list, based on their games played in 2007, they're utility only.

Greg, we should probably get a ruling on this: When is the official lock-down date for players being "otherwise designated"? The ways things stand now, it's conceivable that we could have one set of eligibilities for the February 19th satellite, another for the main event on March 15th, and still another for late March satellites.

[/QUOTE]Yes, I saw this after my time at the Frozen Tundra and wanted to study this a bit more before ruling. I'm going to take the Executive Decision route on both players and keep them eligible at their current positions. Both played more in the minors last year than in the majors and taking their situations into account I've just decided to give them position eligibility to start the season.

Morales remains qualified at 1B

Callaspo remains qualifed at 3B

Both qualify under the NFBC authority to designate certain players as eligible as deemed necessary.
