Greg, per your rules section:

quote: Players who played less than 20 games total in the majors last year will be eligible at the position they played the most games at, not including DH or pinch-hitting.

Does this mean if a player DH'd 19 games and played 1 game at 1B, he would be 1B eligible?
So the answer to this would be no, he'd be UT-only. He played 20 games and 19 of them were at DH. Had he played 15-19 total games, then yes he'd have qualified at 1B.
Greg, this rules seems rather, uh, illogical ... since there are only a handful of players each season that don't qualify at a position couldn't you just assign all such players a position (or DH if that's the case) based on where you expect them to a play?

That would make a lot more sense IMO than having a guy who DH'd 19 times being called a DH, but a guy who DH'd 18 times being called a 1B.
Well, I think I am taking care of those handful of players. Like Votto, who played mostly at first, will start at first and now qualifies at first. Keep bringing any examples that need a ruling to my attention and I'll make 'em here. For now, the rules are as hard-fast as we all agreed to make them and the eligibility lists are up 76 days before Draft Day, so bring me those handful of guys and we'll rule accordingly.

After Draft Day, the rules we have in place apply and I get no discretion there.

Outfielders - NFBC Eligibility List

Not that he'll be drafted anyway, but A Cintron is clearly not a DH. Technically by rule he is because he played all over the field and missed 20 games somewhere.

A better example would be Fielder a year ago when he was listed as DH, even though everyone knew he would be their everyday 1B.

A better example would be Fielder a year ago when he was listed as DH, even though everyone knew he would be their everyday 1B. We don't have a DH spot, we have a Utility spot. Cintron is the PERFECT example of a Utility player who didn't play 20 games at any position. Use him at UT until he plays 10 games somewhere in 2008.

Fielder wasn't UT-only last year, it was in 2006. Yes, he was scheduled to be their starting 1B in 2006, but I deemed he didn't play enough in the field in 2005 to be 1B eligible. And we've enjoyed every minute of that ruling!! :D
If I actually had the title of Arch Bishop, my 80-year-old mother would be most proud. Fantasy Caretaker just doesn't cut it for my deeply religious Roman Catholic mother, who just won our family league fantasy football title!! :D Some "expert" I am!! :D

Greg, your mom won because, as a Jesuit priest informed me when I was running football cards around my high school, "God backs winners."
