September DL Rule
Greg, I saw the rule change where there is no longer a September DL rule:
September DL List: There will be no September DL list in the NFBC this year. If players eventually get hurt during the week and MLB teams do not officially put them on the DL list (which they don't in September), then you will not be allowed to move them out of your starting lineup on Friday.
Just want to confirm something with you. It doesn't happen very often, but occasionally, major league teams will move players from the active roster to the 60-day disabled list in September (thereby opening a spot on their 40-man roster). If this happens to one of our players in September, will we be able utilize the Friday DL Rule to replace him?

As explained above, MLB teams DO use the 60-day disabled list in September to clear 40-man roster space. Isn't it better to address this in February than in September?

Believe me...this is a great rule change.
Greg and Tom need not have a major impact on the final outcome of the NFBC due to bullshit half assed injuries and shutdowns.
If they are DL'd...they are DL'd.
Simple = better in this case.

If any player goes on the MLB list at any point during the season -- including September -- you will be allowed to move him out on a Friday. I don't think the wording of our rule needs to change to explain this.
It's unlikely your example will happen, but it's a good question. Teams don't call up as many players in September like they used to because they don't want to give prospects a year closer to free agency. I don't think any team came close to 40 players on their roster in September. But anything is possible, I guess.

September DL Rule
Thanks, Greg. I agree that it's probably a non-issue -- I could only find a few instances of it in the last 10 years.
Bottom line is that the Friday DL rule is in effect the entire season, but in all likelihood, players will not be placed on the DL in September. If they are, they can be replaced mid-week just as they could any other month of the season.
Thanks again.

September DL Rule
Was anything done to close the loophole of starting the week with a player previously placed on the DL and then switching him out on Friday? (Usually for a pitcher who had 2 starts but only his weekend start was a favorable matchup)
I know it wasn't against the rules, but it sure isn't in the spirit of the rule either.

After thinking about this a little bit more; I think it would be difficult to monitor this example. If someone has left a player on the active roster the previous Friday in hopes of using him in the example Rich gave, so be it. That owner lost a start by leaving him on the active roster the previous week. If he wants to use the change the following week because he likes a 2-step SP's 2nd start, I guess it is his choice. I don't see this scenario occurring very often. There is no way to close this possible loophole. There are so many things that could occur anyways; for example, he likes a SP's 2nd start so leaves the DL P in; then there is a rain out and he doesn't get the 2-step. As I really think about this, it is more about managing what the game gives you and is it withing the rules of the game. I think it is. You could also leave a DL player active because his no-start is the better option for his/her team. Just a thought (or two)
