2008 Chris Young = 2005 Sally Patterson?

Post by Sheep » Tue Mar 04, 2008 4:09 am

Back in 2005 I targeted (and Acquired  ) the great Corey Patterson, who was coming off his 24 year-old season.

.320 OBP 91 run 63 Extra base hits, including 24 HR and 32 steals.

This year I am looking at another Young (23 YO) OF who is coming off a similar season: .295 OBP 85 runs 64 extra base hits, including 32 HR and 27 steals.

Comparing the two seasons - Patterson wins BA/runs/RBI/steals and loses HR. Young is a year younger. Patterson had more ML experience.

Patterson has failed to reach his 2004 OBP since.

In hindsight Patterson was a mistake.

Are my projections for Young for 2008 way off?

.257 (.326 OBP) 32 HR 28 steals 95 runs 74 RBI

Feels light, but maybe it is just the Corey Patterson flashbacks.

Stats are very close to what I have.

Stats aside, Patterson and Young strike me as polar opposites in some ways. Patterson, struggling with confidence and mechanics, not seeming to enjoy playing the game. I think he's a great athlete that "got stuck" playing baseball as a profession. Chris Young hits me as a baseball player who loves the game.

great great call kj. + 3a stats vary in sone big ways. kj and sheep and other # runners- pierre is obviously again going to bat ist for the dodgers. he will walk 35 times and get thrown out 25 times for a +10 over his hits- the lowest in the history of baseball. i have this move ruining the fantasy prospects of furcal- who again will have to bat second, kemp who will play less ( only hitting about .450 so far) and maybe even the heart of the order. what do you guys think?

Kemp has batted 8th in most spring games thus far. If that holds up in the regular season, his value will be destroyed.

This new manager of the Dodgers must be a real buffoon.
