Pitchers and Batting Stats

Post by Purple Helmets » Thu May 01, 2008 4:33 am

Sorry...stupid rookie here needing some clarification. I assume that the hitting statistics from pitchers do not count in the NFBC on the days they are pitching. What about when they're pinch hitting, for example with Micah Owings and his HR last night.

I'm sure this is clearly outlined in the rules, just couldn't find it upon first glance. Please advise...thanks.

Obviously pitchers' hitting stats don't count because nobody wants the bad totals, right? In Owings' case, if he ever qualified at a position, I guess you could start him there (let's just say 1B for some fun) and get his hitting stats there for the week, but then you wouldn't get his pitching stats. You'd have to put him one place or the other.

Think of Babe Ruth in the early days. If he were eligible today, you'd either have to start him at pitcher or in the field. One or the other, not both. Hope this helps.
