phone line drafting ?

Post by WOODERSON » Mon Mar 02, 2009 7:23 am

I was wanting to make it to one of your live sites for drafts but due to work situation it doesn't look good at all & it's getting late ( I was wishing for a miracle at work but it's just not going to happen ). I would still like to be a part of the events in some way and I see you have a type of phone line entry. How does that work & which drafts can you partake in by phone? Thanks for your help in advance.

Thanks for your help in advance. From a previous post I made in the NFBC General Discussion:

Just a reminder that if you're unable to travel this year for the NFBC's main event but you still want to be involved in the $100,000 grand prize, we are offering online/phone leagues this year. I've created a link for this under the EVENTS link on the home page explaining the procedure. Here's the link to that page:

http://www.fantasybaseballchampionship.com/online.asp

Here's the text in case you can't find it:

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Saturday, March 21:

1 p.m. EST: NFBC main event draft begins on MockDraftCentral.com

The NFBC will have online/phone leagues in the main event this year, allowing participants to compete for the $100,000 grand prize if they can't make it to the live event. Separate online/phone leagues will be comprised of teams drafting on MockDraftCentral.com starting at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 21st.

Here's how it will work: By signing up for the Online/Phone option, you will be randomly placed into a 15-team main event league just like any other city. If there are 45 teams in the Online league, they will be randomly selected into three leagues and KDS preferences will then run for each league.

Team participants will be given an 800-number to call into for the draft and will also be given a URL for the draft site on MockDraftCentral.com. All 15 owners will be on the teleconference and all picks will be announced by team owners there. An NFBC representative will run the draft, announce the selections of each team and then make the selection on MDC.com for all to see. Team owners will be able to follow the draft on MDC.com and see all available players online, while still being able to hear all draft results through the teleconference. This will continue for 30 rounds, with 15 minute breaks after Rounds 10 and 20.

Thanks and good luck all.

phone line drafting ?

Just an FYI: We have filled up both online/phone leagues and I'm happy about that. The 30 teams we have in those two leagues are filled with veteran NFBC owners and the competition should be incredibly tough.

It's unlikely that we could fill a third phone/online league, but I will say that if anyone wants to be put on a standby list they can still sign up and we'll see how the city breakdowns take place. If we don't fill a city perfectly it's possible that there would be a spot or two where we'd need someone to call in and be part of that live league. So I'll still take names for the phone and we'd work with MDC.com to possibly still have a visual for you. But no guarantees.

Thanks all and thanks for the strong response to this debut option.

Okay, I think we're going to have one spot open in the phone/online league if someone can switch his travel plans. I'll know for sure tomorrow morning, but if anyone still wants to get in the main event using the phone/online option sign up now or post your interest on the boards. Thanks and good luck all.

We now have more than 370 main event signups as we start a third league for anyone who can only make on the phone. It's foolish to turn anyone away and we may need single phone hookups in certain cities if we don't fill perfectly and we've worked it out with MockDraftCentral.com to help us if we need them to monitor a third draft. They've agreed, so here we go for anyone who wants to jump in via the phone.
