All Reliever Strategy in the Main Event??
Has anyone ever attempted the All Reliever strategy in the Main Event?
My position on the proliferation of such teams in the SAT drafts has previously been stated - so I am not trying to start that debate again. However, after seeing an all reliever team drafted in the second magazine draft- I am just curious if anyone has tried it in the Main?

The best you could do with that strategy in the main event is win your league. You can NOT win the overall event with practically zero points in two categories when good balanced teams will get 300 points in each of those.
It has been tried...and failed miserably although I am not sure they got the maximum they could but it still can't rank in the overalls no matter how good a job you do.

I tried it way back when in 2005, before the minimum innings rule was in place. You can look me up in the overall under Crazytown. Check in between 100 and 200. I finished with 90+ points in my league and not in the top 3. I have not done the main since 2005 and have not attempted the strategy in any auctions or sats since.
I believe I do have the lowest whip or era of all time though. I won nothing for that.

to the opposite of your point one team has done really well in their own league for taking no closers
They did it a couple of years in a row and were very competetive.

The all Reliever strategy has been outlawed with the min ip rule. It seems now that people are trying the no reliever in the sats and auctions(one reason i think the min ip has gone a little too far).

[/QUOTE]I think 600 was the perfect number. Most closers and setup guys average around 65 to 70 ip X 9 dont equal 700. 2 starters min to get there.

If you believe it should...600-700 would max it out...if you feel it should not be part of fantasy baseball...then 800+ does the trick.
It's simple really...we must kill the Batman!

I like 800 because it forces the "mostly" reliever strategy to at last show he's not braindead by having to put at least 1-2 SP's into the lineup for at least part of the season.
