EMails from NFBC

Post by JaserD » Sat Apr 24, 2010 3:35 am

I haven't received any e-mails from NFBC since we started (other than personal e-mails from Greg, Tom, etc.). Draft lobby availability, FAAB and now team updates that I thought I read were mass emails never hit my Inbox or Spam. Could someone check to ensure that I'm in the e-mail system.

These e-mail updates should be discontinued until everyone can receive them.

I haven't received any e-mails from the NFBC for more than a month, and the people at fnaball haven't fixed the problem yet. I'm pissed. I even set up a new account on gmail when they told me the problem was AOL, but I still didn't get anything.

At this point, until they fix it, they should send me--and anyone else affected--an individual e-mail so that we get them.

As some folks said you have to check that you want the emails under MY SETTINGS on each league page. If you've done that and haven't gotten emails yet, then it's on us. I know we haven't sent these yet through our Strongmail account for various reasons and hopefully we can do that soon. That will ensure better success for everyone receiving these from Fanball.
Greg, I have checked and re-checked all the boxes each day, still nothing. It's not right that some receive and some don't. You should discontinue until everyone is getting the same information. Thanks
Joe, yesterday I went to each individual league in which I wanted an e-mail update, and then went back to my e-mail preferences while in that respective league and re-entered my information from the selections in the upper right hand corner of the screen of what info I wanted in a daily e-mail. It looked redundant, but figured why not, I'll try it.

Today I got all my e-mails in the leagues I wanted. Give it a shot a see if it works for you tomorrow.

EDIT - sorry, I guess I should have read the rest of the thread.

Still nothing. Went back and all of the email preferences have been checked and have been all along. Since I've never received an email from NFBC, I have no idea on the value of the info (for example Player News and Injuries), but I agree that it doesn't seem right that some managers are receiving this info nice and tidy in their Inbox while others aren't. Add this to the growing list of potential "unfair" advantages I have seen and documented thus far.

Greg, when will everyone be receiving e-mails and/or will e-mails cease for those who are receiving them if not everyone is getting the same info?

Greg, when will everyone be receiving e-mails and/or will e-mails cease for those who are receiving them if not everyone is getting the same info? I can understand your concern since you have never gotten a NFBC email.

I wouldn't exactly call this an unfair advantage. Everything in the email is on your league site page. The player news is weak in my opinion. For example here is my player news email I got today:

Pablo Sandoval

3B, SF Pablo went 2-for-3 in St. Louis' brisk 2-0 win over the Cardinals on Saturday night.

Dan Uggla

2B, FLA Dan remains red-hot as April draws to a close. He was 2-for-5 with three RBI and a home run as the Marlins defeated the Padres 10-1 on Monday. He also picked up his first stolen base on a botched hit-and-run.

Casey Blake

3B, LAD Casey went 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI on Saturday afternoon, helping the Dodgers pull out a 4-3, 13-inning win over the Nationals in Washington

FYI - That Casey Blake game they are referring to was from Saturday but this was my update for today. Again - not too useful

The email also lists standings and yesterdays stats. That's all. Call it an advantage if you will. Obviously it's something that Fanball should fix and enable everyone to get.

i don't get any emails. if i did, i wouldn't read them. people need to put time into PRODUCTIVE THINGS THAT WILL HELP YOU WIN. looking at emails, looking at overall standings early in the season are meaningless and will only waste your time. just my opinion

Thanks for the info RSN...doesn't sound that critical.

Gekko, whether you read the emails or find them valuable should be every managers choice...the obvious issue is that some are being given this choice while others aren't.
Gekko, while I appreciate your offering of friendly advice, I'm pretty sure I figured out the time management aspect of this game a long time ago.

GREG -- My settings are set properly for all leagues. And, I haven't been receiving e-mails from NFBC since about a month or longer before the leagues were even set up.

For weeks before the drafts, I got nothing. And I know there were e-mails going out regarding special offers, KDS deadlines, etc., etc.

I've been talking to customer support at fanball for weeks and weeks about this and the problem is still not resolved. Similarly, I have gotten zero e-mails from the Owner's Edge, which I am signed up for.

Larry, Fanball does have some trouble getting emails through to certain email accounts because they have been blocked by those providers. You are doing the right thing by talking to customer service in St. Louis because they can look at your account individually, something I can't do. We are sending out all emails for everyone who has the box checked that they want emails; they are likely getting blocked as you said above for everything they are sending out. If you have a second email account we should try that account.

I'll be in St. Louis on Monday and continue to push to get everyone daily emails ASAP. I'll talk to them again today, but I know they are going out.

I have had the same problem with FanBall in regards some of their contests. They keep pushing the problem on my email service provider blocking their emails. That being said I have tried comcast, yahoo and hotmail. Sometimes I get emails but most of the time no emails from Fanball. I can't imagine all three would be blocking Fanball emails since I do receive some of the Fanball emails from some of their other contests to my hotmail account. The most problems I have are from the Snap Draft and NFBC contests. Rarely an email! Hope this helps.

When they told me AOL was blocking them, I set up an account on gmail, but that didn't work, either. I did get today's daily mail, so maybe they finally fixed the problem.

Anyone having trouble should contact customer support, because they probably need to look at your individual account.

Thanks Larry. I have Comcast and receive DC info so I agree it's probably not ISP related. I'll call St. Louis. Since I need to resolve this NFBC issue on my own, my next call will be to Theo and Tito to discuss Big Papi's playing time
