Agreed... maybe not 40/30.. The point is, upside is tremendous.

It's all in the eye of the beholder.
You took Hanley Ramirez in a first round, is he any more certain of proven production than Harper?

Ryan Braun was taken sixth in a draft.
Does he have proven production?
Yes.
Does he get more at bats than Harper?
I don't know.

A lot of people either believe or hope Harper is the next Trout.

Until he learns to be a true major leaguer, he has downside too. Crashing into the outfield fence/wall last year showed he still has some maturing to do before you can count on him playing healthy for 150+ games.

I rank him about the same as I rank Puig for 2014. Their hype means they'll both be gone before I'd want them in any 2014 league.

After Karabell compared both Hosmer and Lawrie to Ryan Braun a few years ago (on separate occasions) their hype pushed them up in most all ADP rankings.

Time will tell us if Harper is the next Trout or the next Lawrie.

Much better than.....

"Harper at 6th overall?

I think we just discovered the identity of Anonymous:
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, welcome to the NFBC."

Way to go...

Not out of the realm of possibility that Harper could put up a 50/40 .320 season

I am thinking my Harper at 11 and Puig coming back at 20 wasn't the best idea.Oh well time to do another mock(draft champions) league. Lets see if I can personally influence any 1 players ADP all by myself.

Dan, I have him down for 55 HR, 130 RBI, and Kate Upton. 2 great fantasy stat categories and a trophy. Not a bad season.

Gekko to English translation: I wouldn't even take Harper in the late 2nd round. Still, if I hype him enough, maybe some will take him over Trout.

The Nats brass is so confident in Harper and Werth they signed Nate McLouth.

Which of the three gets the most 2014 at-bats? Span leading off is a good bet to get more than any of them.

Like a couple who had twins because they had so little faith in their first child...

McLouth has nothing to do with 'confidence'.

It has to do with 'insurance' which they didn't have enough of in 2013.

Jonathon Herrera is signed by the Red Sox.
Am I supposed to think that is insurance for Pedroia?
I thought of him as a utility infielder, like I think of McLouth as a 4th outfielder.
Because McLouth comes at a higher price, we're supposed to read more into it?

Much more likely Herrera is insurance for Bogaerts who may well move from SS to 3B if Middlebrooks et al crap (or continue to crap) the bed there.

McLouth is a much better value as a 4th OF than Harper is a starter drafted early first round. Give me Hanley+McLouth over Harper+Herrera any day.

OR....if the Harper owner had as large of a concern as you, he would simply go Harper/McLouth
